Help with JUMPS

Post by Jeffrey » Tue Jun 27, 2006 2:45 pm

I need some help about 'Jumps'

If i have a ramp image how can i make this tile as a jump.

And is there any way how to make different ramps with different jump power?

I experimented a bit. But the jump did not work.

Thanks

What did you try exactly & what is the problem then? As far as I know, jumps should work just like any other terrain. Try having a look at misc2.png.

The jump -tiles function is explained in the terrains.ter and from misc2.png you can see how you must place the right id for colors so that the tile behaves like a jump or ramp. It is not very clear at first but it is simple when you understand it.

I don't know about jump power but you can experiment with making new terrain for your Jump and changing the "acceleration" and/or "jump" of the tile. I looked the terrains.ter and there is Jump terrain with id 22 which is used to make the jump effect with ElevatedJump and so on.

Another thing that you can make is to make a new jump-tile so that the car jumps over 2nd level tiles like bridges. I tested it and it worked well.

They are almost like any other tile, but you need the "jump" factor where the car gets elevated to second level or something.

I tested a more jumpy jump with creating a regular jump with more accelerative start (acceleration as super terrrain id) and then creating my own jump-terrain with jump factor 5.5. The car jumped somewhat longer and higher but it needs some more experimenting with those parameters to make it good tile.
