engine sounds.
Is there a way to get an engine start sound and gearshifting sounds as you accelerate just by editing the default engine.wav sound? What I mean here is that.. it would be way cool if at the start you hear the engines start and then as everyone accelerates, you hear gears shifting and then get to the maximum speed? Changing the car sound is possible, as it is done by editing or replacing the engine.wav with another sound with the same length, but can I somehow get the effects I mentioned above?
You can make your own sound file, to give a gear shift effect, but it sucks really. The game repeats the engine.wav file all the time, speeding up the tempo as the car goes faster, so there is no way to make a good sounding gear shifting effect. The Toca car has a gear shifting effect, you can check that out. If you like it, copy and paste into the "Sounds" folder and rename it as engine.wav, then default cars will have that sound. Though, i made my own sound file for the Toca car, i dont like the default one.
I messed and messed with it, but it finally paid off. I created a sound beginning and end of which fade in/out very quickly and during racing (especially when you have other cars too) you barely even notice this. Make a backup of your original engine sound in YourTSFolder/sound, should you not like the new one I created. Then just drag the new sound to that sound folder. Simple as that.
