I'm not allowed to start a server at work (why ???? )

Now the question is, if I start 1 from home will I still be able
to play with my colleagues at lunch ??

This would mean that I'm logged in both at work and at home at
the same time - is that possible ??

If you start an automatic server (doc/README-autoserver.txt), you should be able to connect it from outside, yes. You can't be logged from two places simultaneously but if you have a server with no local players (like with automatic server), that is not a problem.
