1.0 Servers need more Tracks!

Post by Flexman » Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:19 am

I think one reason why all the Turbosliders 1.0 servers are empty while the others are full is that they don't have many tracks.

The standard tracks that come with turbosliders are nice but make the cup boring (if it is not random car) because most players will use the speeder on 90% of the tracks.

And why not use the old funny 0.86 Tracks on the 1.0 servers? As long as there are not many 1.0 Tracks you still could use the old tracks with the new servers. There are many fine Tracks and it would be a shame if we can't play them anymore.

Track Include Cups ;)

Post by Mike Nike » Thu Dec 09, 2004 1:40 pm

I do totally agree with Flexman.
I can imagine people are lazy to move the old tracks in the new special trackfolder of TS 1.00, eheh , like i in this case, hehe :)
And also all the old cars can moved in the TS 1.00 car folder.
Btw: i am using the old cars and a nonrotated spinner, because i like those retro-graphics...
I couldn't handle the speeder with the new image. It's so confusing then ;)

May it be a good idea, if we make some TS 1.00 cups with old tracks...?
Just for fun, so...maybe each day at a special time (zone), there will be driven all tracks by 1 author in x laps (ghost/nonghost) or within some days...
Maybe not only 1 author within some days, when the tracks are not much enough...
Example: Aeuk Cup (10.12-12.12), Ande Cup (13.12-15.12), Antti Cup(16.12-18.12), Punatiainen Cup(19.12-21.12), Ksenon & Moelane & Kela Cup...
the dates are just examples, don't be irritated of them ;)

The tracks will the be downloaded automatically and they get published again for TS 1.00...

But...there are actually other better ways, to get the old tracks more public in TS 1.00 :)
That was just an idea.

You can pay using PayPal too. Just go to http://www.jollygoodgames.com/turbosliders/buy.htm and click on the PayPal button.

If you live in the European Union, you can also pay using Bank Giro: http://www.jollygoodgames.com/turbosliders/buyoko.htm.

Heh, a good idea. But you should choose tracks carefully, because there are so many un-playable tracks around (not to mention any names).

Ksenon tracks were made by me along time ago. There are available "new-old" version of those tracks at http://www.sliderpoint.tk. I would prefer that those old tracks could be left out.

1.00 tracks

Post by Punatiainen » Thu Dec 16, 2004 4:04 pm

well, my two newest tracks are not 'speeder-tracks'. Check them out.
www.koti.mbnet.fi/punatia

And what comes to playing old tracks with new version. I am definetely against that. They are almost all bad, both in design and graphics. No way, those tracks anymore. Those days are gone, it's time to look further. There will be new good tracks, but making a good track needs time. So, patience.

Some classic-cups with old tracks can be done couple of times in year, but not more. I dont want 1000 records-files to import to server inside a minute. And i dont want keep deleting rec-files either with are just non-sense. And i dont want my downloaded-folder to be full of grappy old s**t.

It's true that many of the new tracks are 'speeder-tracks', but why not to make your own random-car cups. I personally only host random-car cups.

Playtrix should switch their car-mode too. For some reason, they dont want to do anything about it. Also they should delete some bad tracks, when there is a good reason for it.

Meanwhile, i enjoy playing TS with NEW tracks.[/quote]

Thanks for the new tracks, Punatiainen. I enjoyed your previous three tracks, except I think speeder jump (if I remember the name the correctly) was a bit annoying in my opinion. But syherö and slider park were more than ok in my opinion, so I just had to download the new ones as well.

We have mostly played random cups for the last couple of weeks so I don't have a problem for tracks made for certain cars. Anyway, keep the new good tracks coming - there are never too many good ones (and yeah, I tried to do a couple of tracks myself but I found them terrible, so I have to keep trying to make better tracks in future).

What do you mean by unplayable?

Odd tracks or tracks with bad checkpoints (not to mention any names). ;-)

For me it's ok to have the Unboogie Tracks. :-)

But there were some tracks with a far to small wall sourrounding the road. Don't know the name but this one was really unplayable...

It's hard to say in words what is unplayable. I know it when I see it :)

I like those punatiainen styled tracks which are clean and not so confusing. There is enough space between tracks and obstacles and the track is wide enough.

When the world is so complex we need tracks which are simple :P

I have to admit that I never liked his tracks. Most of them were very huge and rather for the speeder and were too boring to drive. They look to plain somehow... Also many of them had bad checkpoints I think.

The only Track made by him I really like is pu_sillanyli-pat.png.

The Tracks I liked most were made by AE.

And then two funny tracks by Unboogie (whoever this was): Tungos and Speedway. :-)

LOL, just about the tracks i hate most :)
So, it's not so easy to make a good track because we can always argue about opinions :)

But they are funny. I (and I also heared others complaining) think that 0.86 tracks were more fun. All the 1.0 tracks look too perfect.

But you can make funny 1.0 tracks too, like "Jail". :-)
