New Track Voting - IMPORTANT

Post by Mouse » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:28 pm

READ THIS WELL, IMPORTANT!
As many of you know, i have been working on the GPOR track pack. After a break from TS and track making, i now want to continue my work. I have 4 tracks that i have started, only 1or2 of them will actually be finished. Since i have some fresh ideas for new tracks, i will not make all 4 of these.

Here is what you must do:
- Look at each track's picture. Study it well.
- Decide what one you like the best
- Decide what one you like the least.

When you post, please say "I like # the best and # the least."
It would also help me if you could tell me why.

PLEASE, if you you see many people saying similar things, DO NOT say the same, please answer with your own thoughts!!

If you do not understand 100%, PM me.

This is very important, it takes many many hours to make tracks, i dont want to waste my time.

After much voting is done, i will show the final results, and then will start work.

And now....the tracks :

I like 1 the best and 4 the least. 1 has a nice variety of corners whereas 4 is spoiled by the too long straight.

i like 4 best and 3 least. 5 has a straight line where you can gain speed and then quietly turn. :)

I like nr 2 best, looks like a nice variation of different turns, from tight u-turns to very long ones. Nr 3 looks like it might be a bit boring... so do nr 4.

1 and 2 look good... 3 and 4 look boring. But those look all photoshopped and that's not good... too thin white lines normally...

Of course they are photoshopped, thats what the GPOR pack has been. Play GPOR_Torrington, they will be the same style. Also, what one do you like best and worst?

Yep i know Jarno, but in my main post, i said i need to know the best one and worst one. In excel i have a score card. Best gets 2 points, worst gets 0 and the other two get 1. I can't use your info the way you gave it.

Wolf, not everyone hates 4.

Info from anyone is taken, keep the votes coming! I would like about 10 votes minimum.

I will post comments on every one of them, if you will.
#1
This is definitely one of my favourites among these. Nothing needs to be done with this, except take this very version and craft it into a nice track :)
#2
This one is my least favourite, largely because I'm not a fan of '100% curved' tracks: if you check, there's no straights whatsoever, except for the start/finish one. There should be more. What I always say about tracks like these is that 'it's just a line with no continuity or pattern'.
#3
It's not bad. Actually, if you drew a horizontal line in the middle and 'split the track', then I'd say the lower part is very nice, although the upper part needs some work: perhaps add a tight chicane somewhere in the northwestern part. This could be a very nice one, has a lot of potential. As I said, just needs a little bit of work with the upper part (as seen in the picture), that's all.
#4
Actually, I kind of like the long straight, if you recall the F1 track in Canada, 'Circuit Gilles Villeneuve' [http://www.formula1.com/race/circuitmap/759.html], it also has a very long straight, so an abundance of similarities can be recognized. Unlike some, I really like this one. But when designing, I think you have to create some 'reason' as to why there's such a long straight, perhaps because of a possible proximity of the sea or whatever. All in all, great track.

So my ranking for these four would be
1 | 4 | 3 | 2

Thanks guys so far for your answers, and Ahsen for your comments.

Just to let you guys know - these are the final shapes for each track, they wont be changed. As you can tell, i was going for a veriety of different racing types on each track; fast, twisty, basic, advanced ect...

This poll is only to help me decide what one to finish. I may make all four, but only one or two with much detail, and the others little detail.

Keep voting! :)

Best Track is 1. I really like the shape. It seems very interesting to drive.

The least i like maybe 2. I think there are many tracks similar to that shape. 3 and 4 seem also very interesting.

Mouse it would be nice to have a complete track pack. I mean a set of tracks of the same style by the same author.
