Dark International Tournament - April 2009

Intro
"Dark" means that you won't know other players results (and they won't know yours) until the end of the competition. You can know your partial position in the results page though.
All DIT tracks and laptimes will also populate the TurboSliders.com ranking, after the competition has finished.

Info
All you have to do is driving your best lap in a given track with each default car (EasySlider, Slider, Spinner, AntiSlider, Speeder).
There are two ways to take part to the tournament:
- drive in the DIT Official Server
- send your recordings

Recordings
A race is being recorded if there's a "REC" red message in the top right corner of the screen. It's possible to enable/disable recordings pushing the record button (F4 by default, configure it at 'Settings > Keys'). It's also possible to save recordings automaticall in 'Settings > Recordings' (you can save automatically last 'n' races or save all of them).
Only recordings generated with TurboSliders 2.0.0 will be accepted (minimum beta rc4). Please download the latest TurboSliders version (2.0.0 Official Release) if you are running a beta version, so that there won't be problems at all.

Sending a recording
You can upload your recordings from this page (you need to be logged in to access it). You can upload as many recordings as you want (only fastest lap with each car will be saved). All recordings sent after the deadline will still be saved (but they won't figure in the competition). Your laptimes won't be visible to anybody before the deadline.
Please don't delete your recordings from your hard disk after submitting them. Our software for video uploading is still in beta test, so there might be problems.
If that page doesn't work and the error is about "associated player profile", you need to associate your player profile to your TurboSliders.com account. You can do it through this page.
WARNING: It's recommended to use only one nickname, in order to be correctly ranked. Turbo Sliders offers the possibility to set up multiple player profiles. But using always the same one is quite tricky. Using the same nick name doesn't mean it's exactly the same player. To use always the same player (name & ID), back up your 'players.da2' (inside the TurboSliders '/data/' folder). That file contains all profiles. If you use multiple computers, copy that file to other PC's too.

LoL yeah, we noticed that already. Me and Tijny started guessing your Speeder time since you seemed to be behind him with all cars except Speeder, but still ahead of him in overall standing. We partially had to tell our times to eachothers, and we calculated that your Speeder time had to be at least a low .5, which seemed a bit strange.
Then, we decided to check if there was any bug in the database, so I connected and extracted fastest laptime in the database (we were expecting a 0ms laptime). Result was that you drove 4ms laptime, indeed. I will check what happened now, but I'm not sure if your video has been edited correctly. In case, you will need to re-upload the video. Wait for my private message anyway.

dede and I already discovered that. I have a pretty good idea as to what the bug is exactly (I've known of it for a long time, but it's quite rare and only happens with certain byte-sequences), we'll be looking into it.

We hopefully fixed the problem (thanks T!), but since we are running a completely new version of the script, please report any other problem you may encounter.

I was thinking about stopping this cup for some time (mainly because it's just another cup that needs to be organized, but also because I think it has a bad effect on playing online actively).
iBlaze² popped up with a good suggestion, in my opinion, which is limiting DIT to online wanking only. Basically after IHLC, laptimes can be improved only to the DIT server. After DIT has finished, track will join the ranking and people will be able to upload their videos freely (but no videos allowed during DIT!).

I would like to know wankers' opinion before taking a decision (new DIT will start - if it takes place - next week, so please be fast with feedback).

it works for me, but i wank very little anyways. if u do that at least increase the amount of laps. 8 or 10 as it is right now isnt even enough for warming up. and in online servers the "D" for dark should be changed. as it won't be much darkness.

I agree with increasing the laps. Maybe to about 20. Although, as I said to dede, the server records could be reset at the end of each day in order to keep the darkness
