Quick 2vs2 PunaBall Tournament #10 - Monday 4 March 2013

Well a quick recap:
game 1 - stealth and popo, a bit shaky but alright, Turok was solid and blam 3-6 win, 2 of their goals were lucky shots from the other side of the court and the third in the last minute.
game 2 - Tijny and dede 8-3 loss - I thought if provoke them a bit they might get more offensive which means much crappier defence. Dede was a bit stressed from being "the master of ceremonies" so he completely ignored everything I said and I couldnt really handle Tijny in defence well. Got more aggressive in the second half which worked well which leads me to:
game 3 - Dide+edy 9-2 loss. Since I was trying to be more offensive and that didnt really work well with my teamwork with turok they got 2 early goals, which was followed by 2 lucky goals, which was followed by playing for time, which was followed by me giving up at around 7-2 at 7 minutes in. Opponents were good, but not 9-2 good, normally I would have yelled rematch right after the match.
so in conclusion:
Turok played well, better than I expected, cant blame him much. I can blame the 10minutes per game though. Was not as bad as sometimes (3-2 and 2-1 losses). Well no hope of that changing though.
I got a dozen more reasons why I yet again failed to qualify for the playoffs (groups unfair, bad luck, too much/little caffeine/alcohol/nicotine, etc.), but it is mostly down to me not playing punaball enough (the misses, for the love of punatiainen, all those missed opportunities).
At least we werent last. (which is incidentally the motto of true Estonian sportsmanship).
PS: I am not good at middle management, because I ask a lot of questions like: "Why don't you do it when doing it takes you less time and effort than showing up and telling me to do it the when and how you want it to be done by me?" Basically dede told me type "/continue" when he tells me to type "/continue" all the time and the one ONE time I typed something different I got an earful :).
PPS: now that I read through all of that myself I see my problem was I started thinking before game 2.

My summary of this cup: In the first place, theoretically we've had an accessible group, but that doesn't mean that it was easy, but some players keep signing up for a cup without a teammate and then rage quit during a match and make things easier for us. I mean, the cup is posted 2 weeks ago and every player can see teams, why the need of complain about teams afterwards during the cup?
But well, then in the semi finals, after 3 games that didn't require a lot of effort from us we've lost 5-0 vs dides, It was a wake up call and then we have reacted well with 5-1 and 5-3.
The finals were tough, especially the first match, and since we were the underdogs we started with a tremendous defeat(10-3). But again, another wake up call and we've managed to win the next 2 games(10-7, 10-8 ) and won the puna cup for the 2nd time in a row. We didn't underestimate dede and tijny like we did with edy and dide (congratulations to both for your performances) but we thought that after such a bad 1st game this would be easy for them. Congratulations to both 2nd place team and 3rd place and also to my mate Palo which made some great solid performances, as usual though. About me It was the cup that I've played better, although if palo wasn't there it wouldn't be possible to win.
Congratulations to the cup organizer, more cups are welcomed, at least to unite this community=) Post the results please!

Up until well into the final it was pretty much a walk in the park for us, cruising through our games with the greatest of ease. Halfway into the second leg though, dede started having some lag problems, I started missing some balls and the game turned around. I had hoped we could raise our game again in the third leg, but that didn't happen. A bit disappointed not to get a win: my cooperation with dede was alright, but we both lacked a bit of panache in the end.

I got to say sorry to my mate. My play was terrible, if I had teamed up with any random players like usual I would've never reached semi finals.
I could give billion true excuses to justify my play, but I don't want to become as predictable as Mike Nike, so I'll just shut up.
Congrats to Fama and Palo but, if I were them, I wouldn't be too much satisfied by the performance. Still good to get the win, though.

Mike@ROFLaptop 0Was a nice cup, 1st game against T and d which was bad, we total made plenty of mistakes.. but the following games were pretty simple but i must say , i was expecting more difficultly from Xzeal team and popo's, but they were like standing.
When we qualified and played against Palo and Fama we were in a good shape, a full clean game, we got a win from them in the 1st game, we had no mistakes, and they were still sleeping but after, we some had lag problems , a shitty time to come f***!!!!! , we didn't get sucessfull, and we lost both games, we also were too unfocused
The 3rd place was nice easy game trough, congrats to the winners and all players that joined, but i must say i expected more pro's, or even harder cup to which didn't really happened
