However, if you were to decrease the slowdown, the balance between 1- and 2-stop strategies would be lost; at 15% the difference would be almost 4 seconds (well, according to my calculations anyway), which is obviously too much. Changing the idle consumption will do little to fix that.
5 %" means it makes car speed 5% lower and not depends by "size" of fuel tank. You did good job than. We just need to get use to your setup now. Please, let us know if it will be used for sure.
Me too. Now all players have to think about strategy a lot. Qualifications will be more important too. They can't just play with 100% of tank anymore.dede wrote:I like the idea of having the tank much bigger.

It is exactly like that, but you're missing something. Consider these examples:
Code: Select all
100 seconds of acceleration, 15% full slowdown -> 2 stints of 50%
200 seconds of acceleration, 20% full slowdown -> 2 stints of 25%
We're going to use the test races to decide these things. But yeah, it will probably take some getting used to.Whiplash wrote:You did good job than. We just need to get use to your setup now. Please, let us know if it will be used for sure.

I think the race distance is just perfect really, as at the end it always seems as if there is no one really battling anymore.dede wrote:I like the idea of having the tank much bigger. Remember that we have two test races to test things out. Just announce the setting before the first one.
About doing 30 minutes races, wouldn't it be too much? If it's ok to everybody, then we can change that too.
As for rate of consumption: I think it should be so that 0 stoppers are impossible, so that you become about 8% short if you try one. This is not only for realism, but because at high fuel loads you make less mistakes, the car is easier to control and many corners that otherwise cant be can be taken flat. Therefore it is the "safer" strategy, and for people who make many mistakes, it could also be the more favorable one and the more fast one because of the less mistakes. Of course it is less likely you will run out of fuel on this strategy too.
There would be two ways to acheieve this, either by making races longer, or consumption higher. I do not think putting idle cons. higher would be a good idea at all, in fact I would put that lower to make it easier to eco drive. And like I say, I think that race distance is almost perfect.
One other thing is the possibility of a 3 stopper. The only way that this would be achievable is by making pitstops shorter. This could either be by making the actual refulling time shorter, or pit lanes shorter. I think the ideal strategy should vary from track to track, such as in real life barcelona the 3 stop strategy is the favourable one because of the nature of it, but in monza a 1 stop is. However 3 stop is mostly seen as an agressive strategy taken at tracks such as hungary and sometimes even monaco to try and get at the front and pull away, dictating your own pace, because overtaking is so hard at these tracks. However with the TSE F1 Beta car and the tracks used, overtaking is hardly hard at all!
It is a whole new matter then, and perhaps one for another day. But imo TSF1 has the exact opposite problem of real F1 - overtaking is too easy! You may think harder overtaking would make races more boring, but Im sure anyone who raced on my F1 2008 server using kovalianens F1 2008 cars (which have much longer braking points and slower acceleration, and a lower top speed meaning it is much harder to overtake but if you do pull of an overtake it feels so much better) will tell you that it is actually quite fun to get caught behind another car, and be stuck there trying to find attempts to overtake cleanly. Also the car does not respond much in collisions and is wide, (another factor contributing to it being hard to overtake) meaning fairplay racing is much more common.
The other thing is the tracks. I used keppanas F1 tracks (I am not much of a fan of them, but they were perfect for that car it seems) and these were perfect - very stop start in nature, you really had to build up a move to be succesful and stay right on someones tail before getting him into an overtaking point.
I am not suggesting the cars or tracks for the F1 leagues be changed, if something aint broke, dont fix it. However if more realistic strategys were really wanted, then this would have to be done really.

If 0 pits tactic is much slower than 1 pit, I don't think it would be a problem.
What you say about realism is true, but we aren't playing a realistic simulation of F1 (if we try to achieve that, we would have to disable refueling during the race..).
I tried the other F1 cars you mentioned, and if I remember correctly they felt something more similar to antislider racing. When I play F1, the first thing I need to feel is the speed. Otherwise I just wank Spinner in Arena.
Obviously the speed affects overtaking possibilities and fairplay racing: bumping is easier and makes more damage.
Anyway, if two players are equally fast and manage to drive good laps, it's very hard to overtake. In the last cup I had some good battles with Tijny that ended up in mistakes just because I couldn't find a good fair way to pass him (but I also had some overtaking thanks to little pushes because of different braking points).

Got it.Tijny wrote:It is exactly like that, but you're missing something. Consider these examples:Both examples equate to exactly 100 seconds of race time. However, in the first example you will have at most 50% × 15% = 7.5% slowdown, whereas in the second example the maximum slowdown will only be 25% × 20% = 5%.Code: Select all
100 seconds of acceleration, 15% full slowdown -> 2 stints of 50% 200 seconds of acceleration, 20% full slowdown -> 2 stints of 25%
I tough that you don't like big "full slowdown" because it's too easy to drive with that low speed, not just because 1 stop and 2 stops aren't equal. I didn't realize that 15% and 12% are not that different for car speed anyway.Tijny wrote:dede, have you considered reducing the fuel slowdown? Like this it's just a completely different car on a full tank, and last season there were sounds like "hmm this track is way too easy with high fuel" on more than one occasion, which is obviously not a nice thing to hear as the trackmaker.
In my opinion a value of like 12% would be better, so that driving with high fuel would at least be somewhat challenging and exciting. (this would obviously mean reducing the refuel time too)
I'm fine with you making jokes, as long as they're within the boundaries of respect and common decency. I told you what you need to do to unban yourself, but apparently you have as much poo poo in your eyes as in your mouth.reirom wrote:SO YOU GUYS WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO RUN WHY?

i will run this cup just for fun..
I made that post without doing too much research, 12% slowdown is never going to work with this race length. And apparently you still don't get the point of 20% and a very large tank; the idea is that you will never go over ~60% fuel, so that the slowdown feels in fact more like 12% while still maintaining the balance between strategies.Whiplash wrote:I tough that you don't like big "full slowdown" because it's too easy to drive with that low speed, not just because 1 stop and 2 stops aren't equal. Hah. Don't wary, I really get it. My explaining to prove that: "We will not use full tank obviously never again (except some funny guys), and we will have about 50% of tank on start which is mean that we will immediately have 50% of (20%) slowdown too". ok?Tijny wrote: And apparently you still don't get the point of 20% and a very large tank; the idea is that you will never go over ~60% fuel, so that the slowdown feels in fact more like 12% while still maintaining the balance between strategies.

I think they are better than antisliders because they, like the F1 cars, do take a while to reach top speed, but I understand what you mean about needing to feel the speed.dede wrote:I tried the other F1 cars you mentioned, and if I remember correctly they felt something more similar to antislider racing. In real life F1, you must be around 1 second faster than the car in front to overtake easily, at some tracks (such as hungary) two seconds and at monaco to simply drive past you must be a staggering 5 seconds a lap faster than your opponent...I dont know if these figures have changed with the new bodywork on the cars but they are quite staggering.
The great thing about this game however, is that it is not realistic, or trying to be, at all. However I would like it if overtaking battles could be more...sustained. But the thing is generally then people just end up getting fustrated and either barge past or make a mistake.

Im sure you wouldnt need 5 sec faster then the driver in front of you this to me seems like your over exaggerating a little bit,
overtaking really doesnt have anything to do then being faster in laptime then your opponent its how you said in your previous post about finding the right time to overtake: finding a good line, give it a look, give it a go go go,
anywayz i got a little bothered when you started to say difference in Laptimes .... you need about this much faster then your opponent to be able to overtake him,
It just aint true in my view, for example:
2 people having a fight the one in front accidently takes the corner a little wider as ussual and the 1 behind has time to react and puts his car like that so he will side to side at least with his opponent,
And eventually he could take the spot with accelration speed or the next turn.
And taking 1 corner a little wider wont hurt your time so bad immediatly so it reaches 1-2-5 sec difference in laptimes.
Dont beg for things do it yourself or else you wont get anything!!
Jurgen obviously didn't read that you were talking about real f1. Yeah I agree, those races are tight and overtaking is much harder compared to the game. In TS we can get overtaking to work more like in reality if we reduce the speed of cars and we take away all obstacles from the tracks. But then we would be driving a tricycle and not a f1 car (that's my opinion at least).
Anyway, I prefer the game to real F1: in TS if you are battling against players with same pace, you could potentially exchange your positions several times in few laps, because the game is so hard that you can't expect to be driving best line all times.

Hi, I suggest that is 2 laps in qualifying. Please, I would not have problems or errors as I had in my second race in f1 previous league

I am sorry I cannot find the article to link to...but have you not seen famous scenes from monaco grand prix's where people on intermediate tyres manage to succesfully block those on slicks in bone dry conditions, or indeed the famous battle between ayrton senna and nigel mansell where nigel was over 2-3 seconds faster per lap than ayrton, yet could find no way past.Jurgen-NL wrote:shyguy1001 wrote: I think they are better than antisliders because they, like the F1 cars, do take a while to reach top speed, but I understand what you mean about needing to feel the speed.
