Oh, really? I didn't know that man. That's a big deficiency for the track making. :? Maybe this could be asked from Ande to be improved in next version too.
Anyway, you can still fix this. Start/finish line should come faster to ideal driving line.

Ande should know about this already. Again digging old posts from 2008:
Ande wrote:Yes, supporting diagonal start/end lines would be too big a change now. The whole control line system is very simple since checking whether a pixel is on a vertical or horizontal line segment is very simple compared to checking whether it is on an arbitrary line segment. This is of course a bad excuse since it could have been done, but unfortunately, I can't implement every feature.

I gave up after I realized I was lapped by everyone and we had only done 1/3 of the race.

And this is how these top-3 professionals start a 3 hour race:

Image

I didn't realize that you were supposed to drive in some fuel saving style this race. I am not sure if I even know how without losing like 5 seconds /lap. So there I was consuming 8%/lap when everyone else is 6.5%-7%/lap. I was a lot faster than Gzehoo but with that fuel consumption difference it could have been tight race with him if he would not have quitted.

This was my last race of the series due to travelling, but I could easily see driving 1.5h to 2h races regulary. Specially with slow fuelling when you can get up and stretch at every pit stop.

Unfortunately there were some lag issues which didn't bother me that much but for some players it was so bad that they had to quit. But I guess its part of endurance race that only half of racers survive to the end.

Thanks to Wokinger and others, it was fun even there was no real battles in last two hours of race or so. :)

Well, I decided to give up this race after that the game has stopped working when I was going to go to pit lane on 56th lap and I lost 2 laps to all drivers. It's pity for me because I was hoping for TOP5 in this race.

XD :D

allrighty, letz see..
circumstances - purposly 0 laps practice this time..although if i woulda remembered the 1pt bonus for pole, i woulda practiced fast lap maybe^^..
anyway, with laptop of my flatmate i had the chance for less lag - i thought, lol. less lag it was, actually in testing, but suckier driving.
as consequence i was way off the laptimes of top3, kinda..
1st stint i drove with the laptop..but..

wtf, 1st lap i thought was formation lap - arent we supposed to NOT overtake then? i was kinda cruising the first 10ish seconds and then realized that maybe the race already kinda started, since all in front of me seemed to give fullspeed...
no wonder i appeared to be kinda last place in the beginning.

lap 2 or 3 gzehoo crashed in front of me, me into him (argh..had nice line there) and he didnt let me pass. i tried later, but he closed the doors...and even when i tried to overtake right, left, right, he blocked multiple times in all directions. that sucked..cause it made szy and woki come closer and i lost time to 1st place.

unfortunately i got disconnected 3 times or so in 1st 12 laps and lost around 20 seconds by that. so i was 25-30sec off to 1st place already.

switching to my pc during the pit helped. i drove better laps, slowly, lap by lap. i had more little lags, partly giving me trouble keeping in the curve - sometimes going offroad, but all in all, that went away with each players less on the server causing traffic...
so at some point i could overtake power in order to get 3rd place...and try to focus on szymek, me being around 12sec behind + 4 sec fuel disadvantage at the high peak maybe.

szymek still drove faster than me, but like expected, i saved more fuel - in at least 4 parts of the track where i could use the brake, i just rolled out earlier, so he had somewhat easy going driving faster laptimes. 1-2 sec per stint i saved more fuel maybe that way, while driving relatively constant fast, while szymek made occasionally crashs. i did like 2-3 maybe in 100 laps and at least one of them was because i was hunting the fastest lap^^

so..at some point i caught szymek and was building a lead.
i was +-18 sec behind wokinger (he having at least 10 sec fuel advantage, so 28sec effective and he had a slightly better pace, still, maybe..)...and i had ~18 sec lead to szymek and a fuel advantage of a few seconds maybe too, or if not, then his advantage was max 4 sec, i think. anyway, 2nd place seemed very safe at that point, even szymek had 1-2 stints, where he drove a lot of mid 53 laps.

then some spectator connected and ~1 lap later i got a major disconnection. i cant prove it was his fault, but late but not too late, woki or szy deactivated usage of master server, thx for that anyway, although it was too late.

having lost around 1 minute, being at least 40 sec behind szymek, needing to catch up at least 1 sec per lap, i gave up the fight for places and just tried to drive fast laps. as result..a 53.00x with just a few beauty mistakes stealing the 52.x chance.

3rd place in the end. without lanz and co. and without lag 2nd place i guess.
with practice in addition i think i could have had a tight fight with woki. sry about that, but i think its fine that i dont expect to get 0 disconnections in my current situation in a 3h race^^.

a few funny things in the race, like me szy and woki driving very similar fast times in the same lap here and there and then in a few cases we all drove bad laps or all kinda crashed in the same lap^^

quote of the day maybe by xzeal, who disconnected short after the line "im wasting my life" or something like that^^, which actually let me think 30 sec about if i should have gone to the live poker cashgame i was invited. but nah, livepoker < sliders, still <3

well kinda bad event for me! even though i never thought i'm driving for the win in a 3 hour race i still feel i got robbed at least from the chance of challenging woki! due to loads of small lags i couldn't really push in first stint, still i had a good lead until i crashed for the first time, 1 lap before first stop! after realizing that woki wanked out a strategy wich allowed him to make 1 lap more out of a full tank i knew i only can challenge him if i start to push, even though i knew that's related with high risk of crashing due to close obstacles and narrow track! and indeed i started crashing in almost every lap resulting in loosing the lead in the middle of stint 3! sometimes i have good connection on szy's server and sometimes it just sucks! sadly yesterday it was 1 of the bad days! sure i had the chance of driving safely around the track but i knew that would made me only loose this race if i keep the same pace i had in stint 1, from low 54.x to high 55.x! sadly after xxx crashes i decided to park the car cos my motivation was gone and i didn't saw the sense in it of driving 3 hours without a real chance for the win!
anyway dominant display from woki! congratz for the win! and lol to the start!

Nah, I switched off master server before start of the race, specatotor checked IP on f1sl site

good lol that was! even i thought thats not you!

had a pretty good pace today, sad that someone had to play the moron! but i already knew he couldn't be the smartest dude in the world with that nick he used! i had a very similar pace to woki! without him stoping to ban that idjit it could of been a nice fight for the win! don't know why that airhead kept driving bw for such a long time, 3 times i crashed with him! :x
anyway nice triple! 8)

quite funny again...

chaotic circumstances, yet another random challenge to connect just in time..
19.20 stood up...breakfast...
19.38 started laptop (slow one, borrowed from little sister), installed the mod, tracks, cars..3-4 laps practice local.
19.59 connected, only 1 server on with 2 drivers with the mod...
20.00 realized i need another mod maybe, started to search for other downloadable mods...
20.0x realized i maybe need no mod at all...
20.0x lost connection and didnt get it back with WLAN or WLAN usb stick..
20.0x tried to copy stuff to usbstick or external hard disc to copy all to other pc and drive there. failed...
20.24ish downloaded mod, tracks, cars on luckily existing folder on other pc. connected - got banned^^ (due to the possible likelihood of someone faking to be me in order to take part of the race, i think)
tried to connect at different pcs, mods, with diff. nicknames, as spectator...fail fail fail..
restarted router to get new ip - worked!
20.?? came just in time in end of qualification, so i could start from last place on other pc.

that pc though sucked in terms of using a keyboard on a sliding board, which i had to fix with my legs the whole race - in a distance far from the monitor, so i didnt see the track so well and my timing sucked even more in curves. as consequence i also drove a couple times offroad.

race:
sebastian veetel hold me up and didnt let me pass, that was kinda nervy..
while him driving backwards later was actually bringing a little bit of random action into the race, although i already had enough action trying to improve my pace and beat szymek via pit strategy. although i expected i will end up 5th place maximum that way, most likely. but for some reason i was suddenly 2nd place at some point...

unluckily wokinger "died" for everyone and didnt wait till pitstop to ban sebastian.
well...he has my ok to be ranked as 2nd place for this race and the rest will be moved 1 place lower, except lanz obviously :D.
i had basicly only 1 somewhat fast lap, 54.9x, but driving a mistakeless lap was with that "moving" keyboard and the far away tft screen quite tough.
when sebastian bw-crashed into szy and me into szy, i somehow ended up in front of szy. i think i didnt had to let pass szy there, but it just felt it is probably more fair that way. in the end, i reduced the gap to szy a little by that, so i still "won" in comparison. but in the end i think i woulda beat szy with a decent gap anyway with my fuel strategy at least. and that way we had at least a somewhat fair fight and a little bit more action.
with my sucky pace though i had no idea i would have chances to catch whoever was in front of szy at that point. dide and matic or so it was, i think..
still dont know how that happened. but probably different pit stratey and probably my pace wasnt as sucky as it was.

track: was actually kinda nice - probably even on better circumstances i wouldnt have been able to smoothly drive constantly fast on it. there were a few curves where you can mess up and drive offroad or drive a slow line with bad timing. good track there, woki!

woop, 2 posts in a row...

bahrain ftw, from generally wins over f1sl to gt3...for some reason i end up 1st..

circumstances this time..
1 full simulation with wrong fuel settings though :E...
and some few laps to hunt a somewhat good lap...but that was last week.
before the race i had around 8 laps practice or so. not to forget i just had 2 hours sleep and only 3 hours the night before.
the effect was that my head was not easy to keep up...so i drove a couple times offroad on straights.
washing the eyes helped though. so, better than being xzealy drunk, i think.

warmup fastest felt good..but like dede said he would beat me in q then

quali..dede pwned me in last lap and also wokinger liked to screw my pole..

race...
quite warpy all around, but kinda good to handle most of the time.
1st lap dede run away, since i kept 0.0x sec behind wokingers wheels.
unfortunately i kinda got sidebumped offroad by stylus (not arjen, like i thought first..) and he didnt let me pass there and neither later..kinda meh. i saw dede waited for someone during the race.
on the other side i had a little collision with wokinger, where he dived into the corner. watching the replay though it felt like my touch did not really have an effect on wokinger going somewhat offroad. though on the other side i was probably forced to not risk to touch him there and shoulda waited him to dive through and go kinda offroad without my touch.
in the end, it didnt felt too unfair, in case it was.

anyway, check out my first 4 laps, quite solid driving very close behind cars in front without giving them a bounce in curves! ok, i did bounce twice, but slowed down to keep behind the car after the bounce i think.
my car pattern actually overlapped wokingers quite often i think...and later someone elses as well (arjen szy or stylus).

key scene: szymek helping me to win, by filling less fuel, dede making mistake in pits...me panic leaving without filling too much, luckily ending up right in front of dede. dede then lost a lot of time defending vs szymek (while i thought the whole time it was wokinger!)..
as consequence i thought my race win is kinda sure.
but i did a bad 3rd stint and a bad pitstop (2 mistakes), maybe lost 3-4 sec there and got luckily right in front of wokinger in last stint.

probably coulda been easy win for dede without his crashs and pit mistakes.
with a 63.9x the fastestlapidiot award gone to me this race (lol), but it was kinda funny how interested i was in seeing szy and xzeal making nice laps.
at xzeals 66.2 or so, i think i actually did a mistake as consequence of trying to read the laptime.

Good pace by me, but in easy tracks mistakes hurt a lot. And I made two of them. Second mistake was the same as first one ( crash in first corner ) but unluckily I had a car behind and I had to give way.
Another bad mistake was trying to drive a 9 laps stint, which required Eco driving. Mission accomplished, but apparently I was too slow also because Szymek was faster right before curves because of that. At a certain point I typed "go" in the chat because he somehow didn't get I didn't want to battle.
The 9 laps stint screwed up the fuel strategy, since I had no clue about how much I needed for last stint. All in all I got lucky by filling "only" 5% too much.

I don't recall any pit mistakes (if it's for stopping out of pit area, then it's quite common for me, I don't consider it a mistake).

Shame that I lost this race, I somehow believed I could win it easily.

Actually, I didn't feel so comfortable on that track (comparing to RainCourt). However, my quali speed seemed to be really competetive (counting few mistakes on fl). I was able to beat Mike Nike, what happened for the first time in gt3 (I guess).

Racestart was a bit difficult to me. I drove close to Stylus, who was faster in a few parts of track, but he was making so many mistakes, which caused loosing a lot of time. As a result 4 cars drove in 0.5s-1s, what wasn't good.
This could have made dede easy winner, but.. He failed in 2nd stint. He tried save fuel, which was brave, but he was too slow to take an advantage from it.

On finish I was less than 1s behind Mike, but I had few so slow laps and I'm happy with 2nd pos, because yesterday wasn't my day.

lets see - third from the bottom in the qualy. best qualy lap was almost decent (or so I thought) 66.9. then I found dede was 3 seconds faster... per lap.

Race: so obviously I get pwned straight away and fall last like always. I dont even let that bother me anymore as long as the pwner wont block like mad when I catch up again (apparently only people who are slower than me kamikaze me, which is understandable since being slower than "xzeal-the-meh: 66.9 is ok" must be quite depressing).

Anyway that aside nothing happened in the race after lap 1.

Did not like the track, could not get a feel for it - did get used to it surprisingly quickly though
People behind me were faster, but from lap 3 I was doing 66.2-66.4 at a disturbing regularity.

Oh I caught up to symek at one point, that is eventful? he was coming out of pits and I was going to pit in 2 laps.

Did not even get lapped... I even gave you a perfect chance to lap me. went 8+8+8+4 lap stints.

Tried to beat my best lap in last 3 laps and all I did was crash all over the place.

In conclusion: not very exiting. [/rambling]

PS: the mod night that followed was much more fun. especially humiliating reirom in PB after that.

Hmmm...no reviews!!?

Unfortunately it kind of looks inactive this thread. :(

Its the end of the championship and i just want to congratulate wokinger for winning it! ;)

Got 4th on Q after more then 1 month without making a single lap on TS! Surprising really!

On race i was amazed to noticed that i got a podium, a 3rd place it was! I felt sorry for Mike cause he obviously had technical problems that didnt let him fight for a possible win on championship!

Dede was away which meant there´s the chance to fight for higher places, and thats what i did! :)

I had a great battle with Lanz and after quite some pressure from him and even a small touch i lost concentration and started loosing time and ended up with +7s then him!

I had fun on this serie, even if i couldnt be present on most of the races. It simply got me a full month on vacations! Once again i have the feeling i could had fought for wins at least in 2 or 3 races! :(

My time will eventually arrive,...i believe! :)

Kind of waiting for the new version to come out!!!! A lot a lot! I need some fresh air!!!
