Well, of course it was very unsportsmanlike of lux to try to be near you all the time (please don't do that again, lux!), however, there is no rule against that. As for the lap 2 incident, I remain with my initial standpoint that it was you and no one else who drove into the grass. I would just like lux to explain his kamikaze line there, and maybe hear dede's opinion too.

He DID NOT touch you there, reiorm. Maybe it looked that way on your screen due to your high ping, but if these kinds of contacts are not allowed we might as well just go ahead and ban everyone. Little bumps like these happen just about 182943 times in every race. So seriously, stop your crying; if you continue to make such a scene after every little incident, maybe I will reinstate your ban again.

Reirom like a touch is not normal during a formula 1 race......

And yes ofcourse i was slower on fuel tank.. doesn't mean i have to go off my line to let you pass me.

Please, stop throwing stones in a glass house. My start was terrible, because of three collisions, one with steven hill where he had a fast start (low fuel) and pushed me straight off at turn 2, then another on the exit of turn 3 with pab (who I was a little cheesed off with, as it would of being very simple to simply give that place back to me in the following corner, but oh well, he was much lower fuel anyway), and then in turn 4 with yourself, where you basically muscled your way past me with force. I took the place back immediatly, but the consequences for me could of being a lot worse.

And this is why I think there are many collisions at overtaking attempts in F1: Unrealistic attempts! The only place I really tried to overtake was into the final corner, as it was a nice one to take the inside line into and then hold the inside line into turn one to hold the place. I think that worked very well, and I pulled off quite a few clean overtakes there. However, I see other overtaking horribly into other, unrealistic corners when they are not even faster than the one in front! Often using the sand on the inside to slow down and block.

Also, I have one apology to make: Matic on lap nine we had a little duel, I considered I took the place unfairly (by muscling through much as I described above), so attempted to give it back, by doing so blocking you. Then in the following corner I went wide to let you through, you didnt seem to understand and I blocked you again. So I went wide round the sweeper, which let you throuhgh, but the increased cornering speed allowed me back through in the hairpin. By now badeend had caught up to us, and I was fed up with waiting, considered I had given you track position for a few moments, so carried on. However, I see I could of perhaps given it back to you one more time ;) Although, you must always draw the line somewhere.

EDIT: Reirom, having watched your race back, it is very clear you should assess your own fairplay before criticizing others :)

I just watched lux's race, and I didn't like how he searched for reirom all the times. People behaving like that in the league wouldn't make any sense to me. Isn't racing about scoring the best possible position?

About the "accident" mentioned by reirom (the last image he posted), they call it "simulation" in soccer. There is absolutely no contact there - watch the video instead of taking screenshots. In the other hand, lux pushed a bit too much in last curves of last lap.

I watched reirom's first laps and he seemed to be very aggressive when trying to overtake other players. You can't overtake by just entering the inside of the curve with much speed using your opponent's car as brake.
This is quite a common issue anyway, I'm not surprised if non-experienced players are a bit rough at overtaking. I can just pray them to stay as calm as possible and try to overtake without contacts (maybe taking the inner line in the straight before the hairpin, instead of changing your line right before the curve - this way, the player in front of you can give you enough room and eventually carry speed from the outside to defend his position without contacts).

This said, test races were terrible. Too many players behaving like idiots (and, ugh, experienced players too). I seriously hope to have more racing and less complaints in the real races (or actually, no complaints like the previous season).

This league is about fairplay, sportsmanship and obviously it's for fun. Feeling the competition is good as long as players keep in mind that the cup must be fun to everybody and not just for some.

Any kind of attempt to destroy the spirit of the league (starting stupid complaints, making reirom-style posts and so on..) will be punished with a ban. Previous complaints are now officially closed, since they have been evaluated & punished by the admins. Keep on complaining about this, and you get a ban - no warnings will be given. It's all clear now.

And now, it's finally time to welcome everybody to the TurboSliders.com F1 League!

I did not decide to do that from the start, but i started bad, I was behind reirom and he started to block by closing the door on the straight.
It was a test race, so I decided to test... a player.

I saw him a lot of time on gpor and this is his usual behavior.
If he's in front of you, he always move to close you. If he is behind you he try rude overtaking.
On Gpor he was always on the line between ban/not ban.
I never did, even I wanted, because Mike did not agree. At the end, Mike agreed with me.
I did not ban him anyway but now I feel strange he can race. Other players has been excluded for less.

I hope I'm wrong and You will not discover reirom's attidude during the league.
With my race I wanted, while we are still in test, to show you his behavior when he is fighting for a position but I completely failed due to fuel overload.
My only result was to cause a couple of crash while driving slow on the track and I ask sorry again for that. One was tjiny and one a light blue car.

@tjiny: about my line... it was my way to avoid bump into players in front of me. I did the same line a lot of time even without players near me. I did it again with reirom in front of me and I slightly crashed him because, obviously, it works only if the player in front of you doesn't close the door. There was no contact during 2nd lap.
Don't worry, I'll never race again in this way. As dede said it's a nonsense way to race.

Heh, it was fun to take part in the test race. At least now I don't have to think about taking part or not, because my connection can't handle those long races. During the race my ping went twice over 500 and I had to stop by the track so that I wouldn't ruin someones race. Without those issues I would've finished +1 lap or with some luck and good driving it might've been possible to barely finish on the same lap with the leader. For that I was a bit surprised, since I haven't driven for ~10 years ( :D ) and both the track and car were new to me. But it was funny to notice that my mistakes were still the same kind as they were back in GPOR F1 Season 3 that was held in 2007-2008. And I still dislike non-sliding cars. So nothing has changed :)

Best of luck to everyone in the cup and most importantly have fun!

Since when does the GPOR-F1 slide?

I assumed he meant understeer/oversteer :) But of course, looking back on it, I see thats probably not what he meant :P

Anyway, it's really getting kind of annoying that you just keep going on and on about the car. I don't know what you're trying to achieve with that, but I strongly disagree with you and so does dede.

It's normal to like some cars more than others. Actually the GPOR car isn't very far from what we have now. The new car is supposed to be a little easier for newbies, which is good for a cup that is based on unreleased tracks.

Personally I don't dislike the old car, probably also because I drive it more accurately than how I do with the new car. But I guess that the new car is more realistic and in a certain way it's harder to push to the limit without mistakes: with GPOR-Form1 I could drive several fast laps, with the new one it's just not possible (for me).

I suppose this is it: I find it easier (perhaps because it is slower, perhaps because it was the first F1 car I drove) to find the exact right cornering speed and exploit the max from the exit and entrance of the corner with this car, it seems more satisfying. Also, if it is easier in this respect, harder to overtake = better racing :) However, I see your point about the new car being easier to drive for newbies, and I must realise that most people playing nowadays never played the GPOR car properly (I dont know when it was scrapped, so maybe that is wrong) and so dont realise what is "wrong" with the TSE, (only in my opinion). Its just with some of the rough racing I have being seeing, I often think it is because they just cannot think fast enough. But perhaps that is more the nature of the tracks than the cars, and of course the problem wasnt that much better in the GPOR season days, just my memory is rose tinted :P

Still, I look forward to the start of the league, the car is growing on me, just the racing isnt :P

Yup, actually the problem you described was even worse with GPOR-Form1, because the car has less steering & less braking.

Yes, and I remember the problem of using the sand to overtake was much more common too (because of the less brakes). Still, I think the TSE could be longer and wider, although wider may increase the problem you described somewhere up this thread which you get in anti races where you accelerate faster out of a corner and simply drive straight into the back of another player.

I don't agree with this. We have to remember that TurboSliders isn't a simulation game: it's very hard to avoid contacts and to make nice overtakings. This can happen only if players are experienced, fair and skilled.
Having small cars compared to the whole track width is a way to give more room for overtaking. If we had bigger cars, contacts would happen more often and with worse effects (contacts aren't handled very well in TS - cars getting stuck in eachothers..). I prefer to have less realistic proportions and far more enjoyable races.

Yup - I guess that is what I have to accept: racing is only ever as good as the players who take part :) (And I'm not talking about speed there, but fairplay and understanding of what do do in situations like overtaking, pitstops, the start, etc.). Take for instance moerph, not particularly fast (no offense :P ) but a great fairplayer, and understands exactly what to do to defend and attack positions fairly, and when he has taken one unfairly.

Great new TSE track

Post by misterpom » Wed Feb 10, 2010 2:04 pm

Do you consider using TSE_Putrington as a track on the league? I drove a few laps in it and I enjoyed it very much. It's visible that Lux put a lot of effort there and it really shows. Nice job, man! It's long as hell but I think it's worth it. It would mean less newbies being lapped by top players, which would increase fun for both groups. Practice time and qualifying time would have to be extended (probably doubled) but it would be very benefitial fun wise.

No, not really. Most importantly it has already been released, which clashes with dede's idea of unreleased tracks. Secondly, the obstacles are too close to the track in many places, which will likely cause massive pileups in the race and thirdly, the graphics quality is quite poor. No offense, lux. ;)
