TSM - TOCA SUMMER TOURNAMENT - 2ND EDITION
Moderator: Forum Moderators
Yes... we will have fuel, pits, damage and slowdown.
Regardarding damage we might implement damage with objects only and not with cars. We will discuss this.
Yesterday i had some time to test some fuel level and slowdown effect.
Tomorrow i will be returning home, and start preparing the webiste for the toca tournament.
I will also start checking the registered players and see if they really can make it or not. I will need driver's personal details for reg in website.
Tomorrow i will try to finalize the fuel setting, pass to Jazzy (the technical organizer) to see if its ok.
If we are going to use the community server, i think Jazzy will be the one to arrange and run the sript.

Jeffrey, just please think about the fuel slowdown settings.... To make a good race you need a good strategy, which takes lots of time to make. The races are only 3 days apart! It's too much to work almost every night on a strategy and calculating everything, just learning to be fast is enough work.
Just my advice... of course, but if slowdown is off or very small (no more than 5%) it will make things much easier for all drivers, and less stressful.
I can say it being nearly positive that having less strategy-based races will keep drivers more dedicated. I know some people get tired of calculating strategies for each race and end up just being a backmarker on raceday. But it can be avoided...
Looking forward to the website.

REGISTRATIONS ARE STILL OPEN. WE ONLY NEED 12 DRIVERS. WHEN TOURNAMENT IS APPROACHING I WILL CHECK WITH JAZZY, DEDE AND MOUSE IF TEH REGISTRATIONS ARE OK. IF WE FIND THAT SOME DRIVER DOES NOT MEET THE CRITERIA REQUIRED WILL BE REPLACED BY THE NEXT DRIVER IN WAITING LIST.

Yesterday we (me, jazzy, jan, lamppu) had a test with those settings Jeffrey told us. It seemed quite ok. I'll have some more test to see how much important strategies are. Anyway, I think that the normal tactic (starting with 100% and going for the minimum amount of pitstops) will be the best on each race. Who decides to stop one more time, will have to drive FAST and CONSTANT in order to gain back the time lost for the other pitstop. The idea is: if you go for a strategy of 3 pitstops and you have a mistakes-free race, you should have the possibility of beating those who chose the 2 stops strategy. Otherwise, you shouldn't gain positions (or worse
). I mean, who goes for 3 pistops, will have to risk much. I'll run some test and then I'll let you know
When I talked to Jazzy, he said that we will have teams, but he will select them randomly. I personally do not agree with this, and I support what you suggested, Jan. Having those real teams would mean much more fun (training with teammate, sharing strategies, etc). I wouldn't share my strategies with a random team mate. I agree that using these teams we have now, would mean that Ippon² and [GPOR] will be quite advantaged, but I wouldn't bet that [NoLo] or [fS] will be so much far from the leadership. Maybe just TSM is a bit far from the top, but with a bit of training everyone can battle for the podium. After all, we're using a brand new car. More or less, we start all at the same level.Jan wrote:But...Will we have the teams or not?
Anyway, I tested two and three stops strategies on JA_Rockingham. I won't tell my totaltime, but these are the results: 3 stops strategy (quite good level, but with about 3 major mistakes) IS FASTER than 2 stops strategy (very good level, only 1 major mistake) by 5 SECONDS. But of course, I drove locally, without any opponent, without traffic. Race could be totally different.
Fuel&damage settings tested:
/fuel 1 420 20 10 10
/canchangestartfuel 1
/set forcedamage 1
/set maxenergy 20000
/set maxcarhiteffect 1000
/set maxwallhiteffect 2000
/set fullrepairtime 20
other settings as default.
These settings are working ok for me, more tests will come later.
I made some calculation with excel, and it confirms that 3 pits-strategy is effectively faster than the other one (less than 10 seconds difference - with this data it says 2.6 seconds, but I believe I lost about 2 extra seconds when refueling due to wrong positioning.. so let's say 5 seconds). 5 seconds out of 20 minutes means nothing, so tactics are quite equal. All will be about calculating when to stop to avoid traffic and to overtake opponents. Quite realistic, don't you think so? Anyway, in both tests I started with 100% fuel, so it means that starting with less fuel would require more time to fill the tank at pistsops (so it means that 3 pits-strategy with startfuel less than 100% is effectively SLOWER than 2 pits-strategy). I'm talking about theoretical strategies. Race isn't ghost
I confirm that settings are ok.
EDIT: it is possible to switch the strategy from 2 stops to 3 stops when starting with 100%. This is quite interesting because you can decide to put less fuel in order to overtake a slower car (F1 style). But that will mean taking risks too

Maybe I'm giving way too much info about tactics now (my team mate will be angry about this
In both cases, if we start with 100% fuel, we'll have to stop during Lap 9. This will be a very important pit-stop, because who will use a three pits-strategy could decide to put less than 100% fuel. As you can see, who decides to go for 3 pits, will lead the race by 5 seconds circa after the 1st pitstop. His gap will be of about 10 seconds when he will have to stop again. After the 2nd pitstop, he will come back to the track behind the ones who use a 2 pits-strategy (about 4s behind), and he will loose more than 4 seconds in 3 laps (due to the fuel difference). At lap 20 he will finally come back to the lead, with a gap of more than 11s. In next 4 laps, he will have to reach a gap of 17 seconds in order to make the last pitstop and come back to the track with a gap of 3 seconds.
Assuming that with the same amount of fuel those two players showed in the simulation drive the same laptimes, the result shows that using the 3 pits-strategy is faster. But this is just a simulation, without traffic, accidents, crashes, and so on. Race is completely different.
Hope that this simulation helps understanding the way it works
I personally thing its better to be an individual championship.
All against All.
In TSM records i register the driver with maximum individual points.
And he will be awarded the throphy.

Not just a team cup, Jeff, but like F1.
Driver's championship - the main cup in this league
Team championship - the secondary cup.. or even unofficial, just for fun!
Would be nice to have team points standing just for fun... either way i will create one for myself in Excel if we don't do it, but it would be nice.
No awards or anything needed for the winning team, just a "congats."

Yes Mouse i agree... the driver's championship is the most important title.
We will do the team/constructors for fun.

That exactly what I mean. An individual championship as main championship (F1 style -> drivers championship has more importance than constructors championship). But, like in F1, we could add a constructors championship.Jeffrey wrote:I personally thing its better to be an individual championship.

This isn't intended like adding stupid team orders (schumacher-barrichello). It would be perfect copying the McLaren 2007 style: both drivers are driving without teamplay. At the end their points are summed up for the constructors championship.
If you want, don't put it as official rewarded championship, but put it anyway
It's quite easy selecting teams/clubs, since we're almost perfect (2 drivers for each team + GPOR with 3 drivers + Inferno/Migo/Xaykev). It would mean that 1 GPOR teams up with Inferno/Migo/Xaykev, and teams are done). As I said before, if you want to keep it unofficial and not rewarded, it's ok as well (but include it into your pages
