Track making competition 2008

Post by Jarno » Tue Jan 01, 2008 10:54 am

Hello

I like to introduce track making competitions for this year. This year there will be 4different competitions. Categories are Racing, funny, rough and new mod. So this years calendar will look like this:
1.2. Rough tracks
1.5. Racing tracks
1.8. Fun/Funny Tracks
1.11. New mod

More info about every competition when they are starting. Now that everyone knows starting days of these competitions everyone should be able to participate and make a track.

Tracks cant be published before competition which makes it fair for everyone. How ever, in new mod competition we will count whole years mods, if you like to do that with your own mod. And one person can do one or two mods (to have more mods in competitions).

After every deadline there will be race with those tracks and rules related to them. And after that voting begins.

If you have something to say or ideas for changing something please tell me and we see if those can be made.

May this year will be the best of trackmaking.

I would rather go with "track of the month" -style competition.

Main difference would be, that trackmaker wouldn't need to add his track into competition. Instead, anyone could propose any track to competition among the tracks that are created during last month.

Then finally at the end of year, best track could be decided among three best tracks of each month.

This would be better way, because with the current system, the best track might have been made actually outside the competition.

But this would mean that other tracks would be more popular than others and thats why have big advantage against other tracks.

And why this isnt every month? Well some trackmakers dont have time to make track in every month.

This is fair for everyone now :)

I think it's fine that we only have 4 competetions, but I think that all tracks that is posted here in the forum in the time between competetions should be added.

1) Will give more tracks
2) We will get the best tracks, and when the year is over it's easier to vote best track fo the year
3) When you have made a nice track you don't have to hide it in a month or so
In my new website you can find my tracks and cars!

Hope you will enjoy!

If a track is driven everyday and a track isn't, this doesn't mean that the the first track is effectively better than the second one. When voting will come, they will be all driven once to get a vote.

About having the track competition every month wouldn't be a good idea for now, because we normally have only three or four tracks per month (if we consider 1 track/trackmaker, even less). Three or four competitions/year could be good.

I have a few never-seen mods, one i will debut to the community...maybe (depends on how lazy I am).

I for one like the idea of multiple categories. Now we can see photoshop track makers and some funny men take some glory, rather than the same default track makers in past competitions.

Goood!

Exactly.

But then there appears another problem concerning the dates of each category. If for example rough track competition is held on 1.2 like suggested, then all rough tracks created after that will be "forgotten".

So my suggestion would be either to held each competition on the same data or/and to held another competition of same category later this year, where the tracks created between the competitions can be included.

Voting system could be different this time. A player can give points to 5 nominated tracks, counting points from 5 to 1. This makes voting more tight and perhaps more exciting.
