I didn't even bother to take part, knowing what an ass track it was on and also knowing that the 'veteran' players would kick ass, which they, like always, did. And that kind of makes all the tournaments pointless to players maybe only a little less experienced than these oldschool guys. So it always follows the same pattern of veterans competing against each others and Tijny, Matti, Mike Nike or some other skill dude eventually winning. Wanna take part? Thanks, but no thanks. Was this a whining post? Yes it definitely was. But at the same time I spoke the truth.

Well would it be too easy just to win cup by trying first time? First goal should be get qualified. Then maybe get few points, get ten points, be at top ten, be at top5, win a race, and so on. You cant just assume that you can compete best guys in first of your career. And btw when i'm reading logs in my cup it even looks like that bottom positions are more valuable and fight is hardest there. So my suggestion is to zoom your goals a bit lower at first.
BTW: one noob, vipe was 36. at qualification and was happy to beat some players...Nice :)

The racing is not always about winning. It would be pointless to even take part of the qualifying and what about those Ippon wanking cups... I know I will not win a cup which uses other cars than slider but I still play JJT and some other cups just for fun.

It would be nice to win every race you play but wouldn't that be too easy and boring. This time the JJT was fun and it was nice to kick some players ass with antislider.

I don't think it's pointless joining any cup, I always joined or tried to join every cup just to see if I was improving or not, if I was faster than other players... Actually it wasn't that hard qualifying @ JJT (Bar almost managed to qualify in 2 days -> he never took part to races, only to puna). Of course, you need to learn how to drive cars, but taking part to JJT qualifying sessions or to DIT cup is a way to see where do you have to improve, which are your best cars.. When I started playing, I got these cups as a challange to improve my skills. Maybe you won't beat the seasoned players, but you can manage to beat the players at your same level.

How to learn how to drive a car? The best way in my opinion is to take an easy track and to do a lot of laps with each car there, maybe with someone that tells you what are your mistakes and that gives suggestions. In this way you can get good times with every car: it's a way to start "learning" how to drive. If you do this, you won't be able to drive fast in 6 laps' cups for example, because you have to be constant (no mistakes, fast enough..). But this comes later -> once you are fast enough with every car, then you can pay attention to every lap (you can slow down a bit in order not to do mistakes).
So the first thing you should do is training with each car, and a good place to do that is in local or in DIT cups (or JJT quali..). Improving by 0.001 made me feel so happy on those lapwanking's days.

Have fun, and if you need help, well, I'm here.

So what should the top guys do to make you feel better? Give up or slow down? No, if winning is all that matters, you should concentrate on developing your skills such as dede suggested.

Personally I'd love to attend cups but it is very difficult for me to drive (without interruptions) at predetermined dates/times. In this regard DIT suits for me very well as I only drive when I have a chance to do that.

You see, in my mind, the biggest problem is that there's a big gap between those oldschool players and newcomers. I'm not saying I want to win every time, in fact, I rarely do and if I win I AM happy. So you say it's fun competing with others. Yeah of course it is and that IS what I'm looking to see. Usually in a race though, you easily slip down to the last places, with veterans ahead. And you lose motivation to try better. I understand that for all of you who've played long, every race is a close competition. For me it is desperately trying to keep up with the faster players. Anyway, I'm whining again so let's drop this and let me go on with my pathetic life.

Everyone was a noob, and everyone felt what you feel now. Just train and come to get us. We aren't improving anymore, or at least, it's very hard now. You can get us in some months.
