Flow's First Challenge: The Reincarnation

Post by Limp-pu » Sun Jul 23, 2006 3:50 pm

Hello world of TS!

It's time for Flow-team's first tournament. We hope to gather best slider-drivers in this cup since proper slider-only cups have been so few lately. For more info about Flow and our beliefs check our website:
www.flow-team.com

Reincarnation Cup

Reincarnation cup will be a series of challenges which take all players to a journey along the Path.

General rules: We insist that every parcipant acts like a gentleman. Most of the players follow these customs by nature, but we feel that these matters should be highlighted so that everyone understands the rules. Since we are both stubborn supporters of non-ghost racing but we do realize the unfavourable factors of having contact when people have something at stake. Pushing, blocking etc. is forbidden in some extent. Here are few examples:
-Intentionally bumping a fellow racer out of track.
-Blocking an over taking car after you have crashed or you have ran out of fuel.
-In case you happen to crash to an obstacle and a following player bumps you loose and gets stuck himself, its a good manner to let him take you over.

We know that the difference is delicate and people have different views on this issue. Our aim is not to extinguish proper racing, we want to make it more fair and clean instead. We hold the right to make the final call in argumentative situations.

A few words from Chukie concerning the server: The server is running on my computer and unfortunately there will be lags during the qualification. I have dedicated one computer for the server and I'm using another one for surfing etc. I won't be downloading any big files. I appologize for failed laps caused by lag. However I need to access the internet but you can sure that I'll limit extra traffic as much as I can.

First challenge: The Reincarnation.

Qualification:
Rules: Every player has a chance to participate to the tournament by running qualification laps on our server. Only laps which are driven on the server apply for qualification. You can try as many times as you want. 16 drivers will be invited to race in the actual tournament, based on fastest laps.
Time: July 23rd - July 26th
Track: Flow_Reincarnation
Car: Slider (Though that really doesn't need to be mentioned, does it?)
Laps: 6
Ghost On

Reincarnation Challenge:

Semifinals:
16 players will be divided to two groups of 8 players. Top 4 of each group continue to the final.
First we'll drive a two lap qualification in ghost mode, without points, in order to determine the starting order for the actual race.
Time: Thursday, July 27th 22.00 Finnish time. (21.00 CET)
Track: Flow_Reincarnation
Car: Slider
Laps: 20
Fuel: On
Starting Order: Fastest lap
Points: 1 15 12 10 8 6 4 2

Oh yeah, that hasn't been mentioned yet, though we were supposed to. Some of the settings might still change since we haven't tested enough. I'll let you know if something comes up.

# Fuel settings

FuelOn 1
MaxFuel 320
TankFillTime 5
IdleFuelConsumption 0.500000
MaxFuelSlowDown 0.100000

And players can decide their fuel level before the race of course.

Hi all!
Semifinal-server will be open 21.50 Finnish time (20.50 CET). Everyone should be there 22.00. Then the semifinal groups will be made according to who's there. Since Mike Nike maybe doesn't come and others may forget to come, Dragonstar and perhaps even Chevron could come to see if they fit in. Chukie will host both semifinals, so semiB-players will have to wait about 15 minutes before they can start.
See you there, be there on time!

Fuel changes in the semis and final:

# Fuel settings

FuelOn 1
MaxFuel 320 (not 360 as said earlier)
TankFillTime 5
IdleFuelConsumption 0.500000
MaxFuelSlowDown 0.100000

And players can decide their fuel level before the race of course.
This should be enough for 1-stop strategy if player doesnt make too many mistakes.

No cumfortable change, in my opinion.
With a 1 stop strategy some drivers might run out of fuel after each 10 laps.
At least i just did...though i just stood up after 3 hours of sleep and i cannot even watch so good with the eyes at the moment..
In addition i could not fix my lag or keyboard problems so far, which will probably cause 1 bad mistake each 3-4 laps + the own mistakes = maybe a time of 2 * 5 seconds out of fuel. According to this i could probably use a 2 stop strategy, if it take part.

Congrats to Limp-pu (without him Flow's reputation would be ruined, though followers of Slidism don't care about such earthly needs.), MaunoKasa and Mike Nike!

Thanks for all the participants. The tournament went quite well, though we, as organizers, learned a lot once again. The gentleman rules were not obeyed in the final as well as in the semis, but I guess that the situation was pretty tense. Several players did not let other players past after making them crash. When one player did this, the others were provoked and didn't let others pass them either. We hope that next cups will be more honest, otherwise we have to consider possible penalties.

Big pros go to Ippon-benzin. He was a true gentleman throughout the whole tournament and set an example for every racer out there.

Good news to those who felt the first shivers of awakening: The Reincarnation was the first step in The Path and we'll lead you further along it in the future.
