Video Export

Post by y4nn1ck » Thu May 05, 2005 1:28 pm

Hello

Thx for this new 1.0.4 version and for the fantastic replay possibilities
My question is about this feature, now that we can keep best record or maybe good or fun races, is there any solution to export this in a video format like wmv or divx for example, for playing without having TS install.
I try with http://www.fraps.com/ but when i start recodring during games, it's become so slow that i can't play !

any idea ?

thx

No Yannick...
And surely not in the future.

At the moment you have the need to have sliders.exe, the cars and the track, which the replay uses.

But theoretically, with some work and the knowledge about the wished video formats, the ts video format (tsr) might be convertable - with the work to write a converter...

@Ande
By the way...it might be nice, if TS shows the not existing filenames of the missing cars etc., when >=1 car of the replay cars is not existing in your cars folder.
I had the problem one time to search the correct version of a car, which i couldnt even see, since the replay didn't work...

Are you sure there isn't any program that would allow capturing a video? I don't know why Fraps gets very slow with Turbo Sliders but I don't see why programs like it would not work with TS if they work with other games. One thing that one might want to test is to change running the game with or without double-buffering (restart needed) and maybe in windowed mode. Decreasing resolution or running the game in window might also be one things to try. But does anyone know of other video capturing programs in addition to fraps?

Well, I have Fraps (i didn't buy it) but it doesn't work for me. No Framerate in corner or anything.

P.S. Its great that the video's are so small (in sized). A 5 lap race with many cars is only 20 kb's. THANKS :D

You might get the fps visible if you switch double-buffering on (and restart the game). But recording may still be too slow :(.

Small size was the main emphasis in the video format - client videos can be a bit bigger, though, since more updates are needed.

I try with a other program but its' the same thing this time with all game, i think it's difficult to store game in real time, i also try in window mode and without double buffering and nothing change maybe a little more fast.
FRAPS d'ont work (for me) in window mode, in full screen (only in 1024*768 i start with 40fps
and when i start reconding it's falling to 8 !!

I request help at the FRAPS Forum i hope they can help, i wait for answer

well, I used fraps of other games, and its slows a little. So its not the game, Ande. Besides, Fraps makes HUGE video files. 5 secods is like 50 megabits
