1 Where can I download some lap records or Tijny replays
So far nearly nowhere.
Since 22nd April, i am cutting videos of lap records and there are already many of them. But copys of this, i won't give many people - but i think about making a download section of at least some fast laps, without showing deciding tricks. Perhaps later, when agreeing with many other fast drivers, i will make a section at my page, which would be free for all, which would consist a screenshot of the lap, a video and a comment to each curve, how to drive it and why and how many faster it is compared to other curve strategies. When you can drive for example 2 curves in different ways, then i test each possibility 25 laps, at the moment -> so i drive 100 laps in total, just for doing experiments about what way is the fastest. After the experimentation phase, driving a fast lap with the right line is much easier then, at least for me.
2 Will we ever be able to race against a replay Ande? Nice feature by the way this one.
I think yes, it will be called a race vs ghost or something like that. I think, next to better video features, this feature will be implemented soon, too.
How soon? I know nothing, but i can imagine, it will be around late June/July/early August perhaps, when all is going normal.
3 What are the chances of the replay automatically saving a personnel best lap record?
Well, how a personal best would be saved? As lap to race again as ghost?
Which would mean, from startline to startline. Or wouldn't you like to see, how the car gets speed when crossing the startline for first time, since that is often a procedure of a couple of seconds and this might be surely a reason in some tracks to save 0.005-0.020 seconds (1-4 frames) or even more, actually. But, yes, the chance is surely there that the replay is saved automatically. But i think, in the case of good video features, Ande might let us keep a while to get used to new video features, like fast forwarding, for example.
4 Whilst I am here. Any chance one day it will save the best lap by a player and not all of his best laps into the records. So my name might actually appear on this list Smile
I am not sure, what you mean by that. Are you including replays in your thoughts now? Or do you mean elementary record list handling? There are a couple of settings, which records are saved. For example, you can save your best 5 records per track and car and nick and even those of clients (drivers from the internet) and there is a ~25 toplist, where everyone can get in -> do you want your entry there, even your time is too bad? Like:
...
24 player1 time
25 player2 time
-- yournick time
-- yournick2 time
On this way, you would be faster able to compare your personal best(s) with the toplist times.
@Ande
This or something equal might be a nice additional feature to the feature of showing the personal bests next to the lap records before a race starts (at the moment, where the track preview is shown).
5 Merging replays together. So you could say get your own replay of your fastest lap and merge it with say Tijny's Smile
Do you mean with merging, that 2 personal bests are running side by side as video (or even as race against 2 ghosts, what would actually be not necessary, i think) - so you can compare where you have mistakes in your line? Be sure, this feature request exists already and i think, it will be implemented some day, but i am not sure, if this will happen soon. I don't except it really early, but actually it would be nice, if it would be implemented in the version, when racing vs a ghost and or maybe saving personal bests is implemented too.
6 Anyone driving quicker on a joypad?
No idea.
But i think Joypad or JoyStick have got the advantage of being able to push in some situations more than 2 "keys" at the same time, what might save some time, in some situations, perhaps.
But a disadvantage would be perhaps, that the time between steering left and right is longer than on a keyboard, since you might steer with only 1 finger left and right. And with a Joystick it might even take a bit longer, depending on where (how high) you are touching the stick.
