Official TurboSliders.com Awards 2009

Ok, slightly late this year, but back nonetheless. It's time to start thinking about the TurboSliders.com Awards of 2009.

Categories are largely the same as last year, however I've added some new categories and changed some others, in order to reflect how the game has changed over the past year.

Voting is not open yet. You have a few days to think about the categories and to make any suggestions regarding the current categories or any other categories that should maybe be included.

I will make a new post later when voting is open, informing everybody about how to vote, etc.


CATEGORIES (PLAYERS)

1. Best Default Cars Player
Award for the best player of the EasySlider, Slider, Speeder, AntiSlider and Spinner cars. 2009 competitions for such cars included IRT, IHLC and DIT.

2. Best F1 Player *NEW*
Award for the best player of F1 cars in 2009. With the rise of F1 competitions in 2009, it would be silly not to include this award. 2009 competitions for F1 included GPOR Open Season and TS.com F1 League.

3. Best Full Contact Player
Award for the best full contact player of 2009. Last year, RDP and AntiSlider awards were seperate, however with the majority of rough racing now taking place in a dedicated server using only the RDP car, it makes sense to have only one award. 2009 full contact competitions included TRC.

4. Best PunaBall Player
Award for the best Punaball player of 2009. 2009 Punaball competitions included Puna GP.

5. Best X-Bumpz Player
Award for the best X-Bumpz player of 2009. 2009 X-Bumpz competitions included XBX! and TRC.

6. Best Racing (Default Cars) Track-maker
Award for the best maker of tracks for default cars in 2009. Of course, Keppana held a track-making competition early last year, but there were many other tracks made after this. Who was the best track-maker for default cars in 2009?

7. Best Racing (Custom Cars) Track-maker *NEW*
Award for the best maker of tracks for custom cars in 2009. This not only includes F1 tracks, but also SCARTS tracks and any other track made for non-default cars. Who was the best at making tracks for non-default cars in 2009?

8. Best Fun Track-maker
Award for the best maker of fun tracks in 2009. These type of tracks include the rough/crazy tracks. Who was the best at making fun and crazy tracks in 2009?

9. Most Active Player
Award for the most active player of 2009. Simply, who was always in servers, in cups, on the forum, or whatever? Who did you bump into most often in 2009?

10. Gentleman of the Year
Award for the player who demonstrated the most gentlemanly behaviour of 2009. Who was always the nice-guy in 2009, the person who always kept his cool, always demonstrated fairplay behaviour (when necessary) and always respected other players?

11. Best Newcomer *NEW*
Award for the best new player in 2009. Ok, technically not new, but an old award resurrected. Take "best" to mean whatever you will - fastest, most active, person who contributed most? Which of the newcomers in 2009 impressed you most? Competitions for newcomers in 2009 included TNC (although older average players were also included in this cup).

12. Best Admin *NEW*
Award for the best admin of 2009. The job of a server admin is often underestimated. Who do you think did the best job of administrating the servers, made the best decisions, hosted games and handled the general TS community the best?

13. Best Competition Organiser *NEW*
Award for the best organiser of competitions in 2009. Organised cups are arguably the best TurboSliders gaming experience. This award is for who you think was the best at organising cups/tournaments in 2009.

14. Player of the Year
Award for the player of the year 2009. The ultimate award amongst them all. Who did most for TurboSliders in 2009? Consider everything here - cups/tournaments, the forum, servers, everything.

Award for the best cup or tournament of 2009. Which cup or tournament did you enjoy the most? Which was the most successful?

Award for the best racing track for custom cars made in 2009. Which new F1 or SCARTS or other custom car track impressed you most in 2009?

Award for the best fun or crazy track made in 2009. Which rough or fun or crazy track made in 2009 did you enjoy the most?

5. Best Team/Clan
Award for the best TurboSliders team or clan in 2009. Although there has been less focus on teams recently, with less new clans forming, they are still remain very much part of the game. Which team was the best in 2009?

The first week of voting is to decide the nominees for each category.

You can vote in this thread or, if you do not wish other people to see your nominations, by PM or e-mailing me - s[DOT]bewers[AT]hotmail[DOT]com - but if you do choose to do this, please leave your nick, else your vote will not be counted.

You can choose a maximum of 5 players/entries for each category.

Remember: You cannot vote for yourself. Any self-voting will be disregarded.

You can skip some categories if you're unsure and you can also come back and edit your choices if you change your mind. However, each player is only allowed to vote once.

Remember - these awards should be based on the year 2009 only. Do not vote for somebody on the basis that they once won a cup or the same award back in 2007 for example.

Voting will close at 23:59 GMT on Saturday 27th February. Any votes received after this time will not be counted.

I will then count up all the votes and will release a shortlist of the nominations on Sunday 28th February.

Where there is no general consensus as to who deserves a nomination or too many entries with no particular stand-out (as was the case with the track categories last year), that category may be suspended from this years awards.

Ok, nominations week is now over and I have published the nominations list below.

Since we didn't receive that many votes I've done things slightly different to previous years and set the criteria for inclusion on the nominations list to a minimum of 3 votes and maximum of 5 entries per category. The only exception to this was the tracks categories.

The fun tracks category has been cancelled due to lack of votes.

Now you simply have to pick one player from each category to win the award. You may skip any categories you are unsure of.

Voting will close in 2 weeks, at 23:59 on Saturday 13th March. Any votes received after this time will not be counted.
