NEW
I'm new to this and was just wondering about a few things. First off is the racing simulated? Or do I actually race? Also what do I all need to do to get in a series and race? Plus is there a way that I can make races? If so then what do I need to download to do this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

well, there can be 20 players in a race, partly filled up with ai players.
so basicly races are not simulated, but you can kinda simulate them with ai players, if you want to.
but there might be (solveable, i think) problems in case you want to simulate a race with ai players pitting.

what video settings you have (see sliders.ini)?
and can you upload a screenshot of that?
it might usually help if you change some settings:
try this for example or toggle fullscreen off (0), try other resolutions or opengl instead of dirext (1 0 instead 0 1)
# Video settings
FullScreen 1
DoubleBuffer 1
OpenGL 0
DirectX 1
ScreenXSize 800
ScreenYSize 600
PreferredScale 1.0
FitInScreen 0
UseFixedLoadScale 1
AdjustCameraBySpeed 1
EnlargeToFitInScreen 1
MenuEffects 0
ShowTireMarks 0
AlphaBlending 1
Lightmapping 0
ShowSmoke 0
ShowShadows 1
FixedFPS 1
HudMode 1

There is sliders.ini file in game folder. Open it with notepad and just change these lines to:KWhitesel31 wrote:I took a screenshot of it but im not sure how to upload the picture! But i cannot change anything as the texts are blending together where I cant read them.
OpenGL 0
DirectX 1
Then run the game and your screen should be fine.

O boy...KWhitesel31 wrote:It worked thanks! Now I was also wondering how to add different cars and tracks? I added Martinsville but when I try to race there it will only allow my car and thats it! Even when I set it to have ai? And also how do I make a server for my friends and I to race against each other?
Listen, in order to get ai players on new track you need to create their driving lines by yourself.
To get all crucial informations about the game, just go in the game folder and then "doc" folder. There are documents of all game parts. For ai read "README-ai.txt".

The best thing to do is to join online leagues.. Turbosliders.com F1 League, F1SL, SCARTS to name a few. Also, you can try going to the full contact racing server (crashing other players is allowed), usually this is the most likely to have people in it round the clock.

You probably missed something. Read it more careful.
Where did you put those files of downloaded car? You must put them in ...Turbo Sliders/cars folder. Don't put them to ...Turbo Sliders/cars/tmp folder!KWhitesel31 wrote:Plus it says I can put a new car on the game and get lines for it. But when I try to upload the new cars they will not show up. Also, you can't add files while you're in the game. First add them and then run the game. If that doesn't work, car files are probably broken.

Yes! I was waiting to comment until you said this. I THINK the problem of this is due to the start/finish line being in a different place to the grid. Because we run rolling starts in SCARTS, the cars start off in the "no-wear" zone, which is the grid. It stops you from losing fuel/tyres in there when we are waiting for something. So when the race starts, all the AI cars turn straight from there and dive straight down to the start/finish line.KWhitesel31 wrote:I figured out the ai line but when I do it all the cars just turn left into the wall. How can I fix this?
I think this is the problem anyway because I also had the same thing when I wanted to do this with AI. So I presume moving the start/finish line will work, but I guess Shygay/Burnout would be the best as they know the scarts tracks better than me
You can have different cars on the track. Under the car selection screen from the main menu, select the option "Fixed: No" and then select however many cars you want to use. As for the AI lines, the only way you're going to be able to run the SCARTS tracks is by either moving the grid or the start line, neither of which I've accomplished without breaking things
Well, when you're driving for the driving lines you should check the created file of them. In order to delete bad lines you should delete them from the file. I suggest you to keep only about first 20 of them (notice that all text must finish with "end", so don't delete that). So, drive as many laps you can in order to get about 20 clean and fast ones.KWhitesel31 wrote:I figured out the ai line but when I do it all the cars just turn left into the wall.
Man, it's all nicely explained in "README-ai.txt".
Code: Select all
Debug information about laps is put to output.txt and by searching lines which do not contain "coll: 0" you can find which laps caused the AI
to collide on obstacles. If you want to make your lines as good as
possible, set AI skill to 5/5 and the number of laps to something big
like 20, and then make the AI drive a race. Then, check output.txt,
open the lap.new file and remove the laps that caused collisions. This
can be very painful since some tracks can require you to remove many
good lines and drive new lines until you finally find working
ones. Try not to go very close to obstacles especially in inner
curves.Yes, but because SCARTS tracks are different to normal tracks (the start/finish line is on the home straight and the grid is on the back straight), they instantly dive into the wall trying to get to the start line on the other side of the track, which means the start/finish line or the grid needs to be moved so they are together surely.Whiplash wrote:Well, when you're driving for the driving lines you should check the created file of them.
