TS ranking?
Is there any TS ranking page nowadays?
I'm new in 1.0x TS but i have looked what community is look like.
It isnt look good. Multiple drivers pages, empty servers...boring...
This should change if you want new players... I wont buy full version untill there is good community...

I got to agree with you on this one. The game is good, tracks are excellent, physics modelling is superb and the gameplay is just fantastic in its pure simplicity.
But people are unreachable. That is, they are loosely connected by many different "unofficial" sources which eat each others' resources and keep "reinventing the wheel" one after another. There is a negative development of the community power and I'm shocked to see that no one does care.
It's extremely valuable asset, if you manage to get the players together, which was already accomplished in a minor extent by TSCups.com. However, it's very stupid in my point of view to let these "unofficial" sources to completely run their supporting activities on their own, without any actions from the developer's side. JGJ should've bought TSCups.com (before it went down and all the work was gone) and could've easily paid, for example, 100 bucks from that site and its player accounts and player information, if there's no intensions (as it seems) to develop a game-inside integrated communication and statistics system.

Dear Z, as u see it is a vert old story!!!
i m in that comunity since 2 years and i wrote many times that something should be done!!!
I ll NOT write again all my ideas, all can find them simple!
Unfortunatly in that comunity there are lots of unsolved BUGS:
1 No official site
2 No good methods to reach a good number of players without loosing time (i can say i m really BORED that i ve to ask personally to each player: "wanna join my cup??" when a stupid mailing list could solve all problems or also an official ts site.....but maybe JJG don t care to much!!!)
3 Ts rank is cheated!!!! There are lots of fakies records and lots of people will no more drive pb-hunting
4 Few cups, event etc (at the moment only me mouse and ben are organising some cups, but personally i ll not waste my time again in next months)
However i looked up at my last cups and i can officially say that each cup i have less and less people joined!!!
In few months the comunity will be dead!!!

In our team-page, there is a racedatabase-ranking, which is based on races and cups we have driven. It is updated every now then.
http://www.turbolovers.org/
I have full faith of the future of TS. At early days, community was based on meeting other people in racetrack and chatting in lobby. At least for myself and that will do just fine in the future too.
Of course, you can sometimes arrange something special, like we did in TS-meet last autumn
There just ain't many intresting servers nowadays (where are anticups, slidercups...).
After i have more time again, i will host anticups like in old days and contribute my share for community, instead of whining.
If you don't know how to do your share, then race more often online.

avialable stats are like:
avialable stats are like:
- race wins
fastest laps
lap times
etc etc
@Ande & Jani
All here might interest you more or less (i hope more ^^) (much you might heard already though)
@Matt66
With this post you mirrored once more a part of the current situation in the Turbo Sliders development.
There are a few rankings but only 1 kind of official page which shows some statistics (http://ts1.jollygoodgames.com/records/). But these are just lap records of default tracks and don't tell much (for example partly the endskill or potiental of some (less) drivers to get a fast lap in a special track and or with a special car if the time is unlimited). But it is better than nothing and gave some people some nice days/hours of fun
.
@Z
I do not even remember what i have all written to you..
TSCups.com -> i know about 4 projects which were/are/will be there to get some community page (again). I gave all to get TSCups.com (the files and all around) back but it did not work. Since 15.Feb i am testing a racing game and have an eye at the community development around. A game-inside integrated communication and statistic system is existing (but not that perfect). But i saw some of my ideas (linksystem with for example linked trackpacks, player account with profile (though some additional profile things i miss), world record page - against cheating...) mirrored in a nice (unofficial, i guesS) community page: http://nations.tm-exchange.com/?action=usersearch.
@Waz
1 -> not really, yes (except this forum and the TS main page and the record list...) - an official site with player accounts and some good integrated statistic systems would be pretty nice. I saw Razzle getting great statistics in [CSaS]Mackshot's live-stats (democup.mikenike.com) - ^^ just one example to show what already unoffical and by far not optimized statistics can cause -> something official (which is supporting many different parts of statistics like constant fast racing, personal records etc. etc. - with care at server settings of course) would push many players to drive more. But...it is really important to care which kind of statistics are supported from the official side. Hmm...i hope i can reach my serveradmin - then i could show some nice suggestion...remember me later waza
2 -> indeed...at kind each open cup i switched into each server to invite players - often more times in the same server just to get some more players.
3 -> not many "fakies records" actually. Ande is able to create nearly 100% safety in the most tracks in 1.07+. Then for example only 1 of 115 records can be kind cheated and then still "only" by 0.02-0.06.
Hmm, i just got one more idea to rescue the nice record hunt sessions: Ande, how about setting up the record server with the additional rule that only 1.07+ (i hope the version information is not only taken by sliders.ini, or?)
@Jarno
i know what you mean. And to be more concret: a nice
...but by far only a little (kind of) "lap wanking ranking" -> one of these (especially by new players) too high appreciated kind of ranking. I love to view, analyse and create statistics anyway though...but personal rankings or even good critic or comments of "experienced" drivers or spectators are by far not so less important to me compared to records in relation.
@Puna
The latest nice effect i have seen at zanttu's TS 0.86 server. We drove many old PTX Server tracks - one nice player after another joined and soon the connection got worse due to many players - like in old days ^^.
@benzi
It would surprise me if you find or found something new.
I can imagine that already published statistic tools are covering your ideas - or at least partly... - the rest you can tell me via email or MSN or ICQ, if you like - since i prefer not to publish some special things too early (and i have more kind of unpublished ressources than published ones, like some people can imagine ^^).

There are many who care but for some tastes it is not enough (of course). I wonder though that i do/did not get an email response by you, Z. I hope it is/was just some technical problem...There is a negative development of the community power and I'm shocked to see that no one does care.

Who "we" and which special TS-meet you mean? I had not less such nice meetings, i guess...so i wonder which one you mean...Of course, you can sometimes arrange something special, like we did in TS-meet last autumn

Last autumn we (people in #turbosliders -irc.channel) had a TS meeting in Helsinki, Finland. As I remember right there were Punatiainen, Hengari, Limp-pu, Chukie, riQ, Lzan, Dragonstar and Ande. We had nice time, some beer and chit-chat.Mike Nike wrote: @PunaWho "we" and which special TS-meet you mean? Ok now, I'm not sure if you refer to me as one of these "whiners" (it's totally ok if you do, as I do recognize myself from that), but we have a little opinion difference here..Punatiainen wrote:After i have more time again, i will host anticups like in old days and contribute my share for community, instead of whining.
"Doing ones share" can't be the base for community in long-term. The community (its infrastructure) should be as strong (in its potential) that no one could not be without participating!
We can't "force" players to contribute. The enviroment should be so appealing that everyone will flow to those servers automatically.
Clearly the available benefits aren't currently that strong, that they would effectively persuade people to contribute (instead, racing server is empty!). Long-term planning and game development decisions may sound as far off ways to make these things work, but they are inevitably very critical. "Whining", on the other hand, is something that is sometimes needed to make some people see the need for change.
Anyway, I loved your anticups in 2004, especially, and still they are greatly "branded" tournament-offering, which I like. However, as in all other cases, these races are driven and forgotten, as no one handles integrated system of data handling, which would provide that long-term base for community development.
