i think the topic means what i do before main races or cups so i normally first play a few laps to train the car/track/whatever and then play a few games dart to cool down and when it all begins i try to push myself like : "now it counts" or something ;)

If its a regular "one-off" cup on usual server I don't really do anything special. I just sit on my chair and haul ass. If its a tournament or some other cup where I want to do well I might have a few races on public servers to get the feeling or if I'm unfamiliar with the track I might do some laps to learn it.

But I do have some between race routines. I take a sip of water (or some other beverage, depends on my plans for the evening/ night ;)) run to the toilet, get another drink or have a quick cigarette on balcony if its a longer break - sometimes all of those. It would be hard to race if your mouth is turning to desert, squirming in your chair because of soon-to-be-exploding-bladder and with nerve as tight as a violin string. :)

Hehe, interesting question :)
The less important the race, the less things i do to prepare to race. So: there is no thing i am doing each time. Some things i do often, some only in rare cases.
Very often i _have to_ prepare my bones to avoid bone achings (the "damn achings" ;) -> finger-, hand-, elbow-, foot-, neck-, jaw-bones) during the race.
Less often i prepare to avoid wet/sweary fingers/hands (if i get not enough fresh wind then i have to drive with only the left hand ~2-3 times in 20-25 min races).
Again less often i take a special seat attitude to avoid possible bone achings and consequently to improve reaction time of fingers (timing) and the concentration.
In rare cases (in more important races in relation) i try to avoid as much as possible which could worsen my concentration (and i let myself irritate relative easy in Turbo Sliders): blending sun in front of me or in the mirror of the screen...(little light next to PC necessary to avoid a kind of eyes-irritating (high) concentration of lightness from the screen), meetings/visits during or right after the race, the force to need medicine or something equal due to different achings (avoid by drinking water, taking medicine, going to toilet...^^), communication applications in the background (you can imagine how nervy it is, if MSN pops up during the race and you have to ALT-TAB back)...oh and not to forget ^^: resettling nervy insects into the liberty (outside of the house), if possible... (imagine you have a flying/moving dark object on your screen...or a big spider running right over your head, if you do not like spiders).
All in all, even alone the possibility that there is a chance to get irritated is often irritating me (spectators which could start talking, a phonecall i am waiting for or the doorbelt, MSN which could pop up ...) - so i try to avoid it, if possible.

Crazy :)? In a certain way yes, of course ;). Like many other inspired players, too ;)

good answers guys! ahehe i forgot to say i always go to the bathroom before long races, anyone who has participated in a race hosted by me, know that i always give a bathroom minute. During this time i make sure my bladder is at 0%. Turn the phone ringer off. mg, also i have a sign on my door, one side says "come in" the other says "go away". :D my dad loves to walk in during races, or other multi hour gaming sessions, so i had to make the sign to shut him down :P Finger on F4 before the race too, cant forget to record! (i have EVERY endurance race i have hosted, EVERY ONE)

Keep it up guys, this is nice!

When I started to talk on IRC in about 1995 I used "Morton" as name. Unfortunately it didn't take long and someone else used that name. So I wrote down some stupid names which I thought no one else will take.

Flexman was the best that came out. I could use this nick everywhere as it's not so often. As the Internet became more popular in the meentime there might be some other Flexman's around the world - still not a Problem, in this case I use Flexmän (so also the German pronounciation of the word will be correct). :)

Because fingers do most of the job in races, i usually dry them before race, especially if i have eaten something. Also sometimes it is good idea to clean up the keyboard a bit, but just the arrows ;)
I also tend to go for a cigarette before the cup, but that's mainly because players can join meanwhile.

I came up with Punatiainen couple of years ago, when i played Worms with my friend. We made up names for our worms and i always used some theme to make it easier. That time the theme was birds. So, I modified the names of real birds and so it was quite easy to create new names. One of those "birds" was Punatiainen.

For TS i wanted to use nickname that no-one else would use. Only way doing that is to use nickname which is stupid/strange enough for others to use, and Punatiainen surely do the trick there :)

My prerace activity? I do the drumbeat of the TS music with my fingers, using my table as drum, LOL. Or play the music on my synth as it plays in the game.

I used the nick Finster because of Looney Tunes cartoons. The one with Ant Hill Harry (alias Baby Face Finster) who dresses up like a baby and ends up on Bugs Bunny's doorstep.

Some people have a 5 oclock shadow and need a shave. I on the other hand have a 1 oclock shadow. A line from that cartoon is "Finster shaving?...and smoking a cigar?" My circle of friends would repeat it and it just stuck.

My usual pre race activity especially if its going to be one of your endurance races Mouse is to pee.
