First of all I'd like to say Hi all...its been awhile! Its nice to be back and have a little time to play some...
Anyway I bought an el cheapo emachine and installed Ubuntu 5.10 Linux on it. The static version works fine when I play a local game, but when I try to connect to the network it crashes with:
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)
I don't even see the list of servers. This machine is connected directly to my cable modem (I finally got cable in my area! *HAPPY DANCE*) I don't have a firewall running at the moment. At least not iptables.
Any Suggestions?

The problem is the sliders.linux.static -binary. It doesn't work with the network stuff very well. It may work, or it may not. I have used the sliders.linux -binary and it works fine.Finster wrote:Anyway I bought an el cheapo emachine and installed Ubuntu 5.10 Linux on it. If you have some problems with the Linux version and missing some libraries, read: http://www.dhost.info/sliderpoint/ts-in-linux.php. The guide is a bit out-dated after the 1.0.3 was released but provides still some info about running TS in Linux.

Hengari,
Thanks for the suggestions. I switched to the other binary after making a few symbolic library links. (I had a newer verision of libpng and some other library) and it works.
Do you run yours as "root" or did you make it suid? Because sliders.linux will only run as "root" for me.
At least I can play now.

Good that you got it working. I play TS with my normal user account. I don't know why it would need any super user rights to work.Finster wrote:Hengari,
