I just tested that, and it's not such a good idea (at least for me). The CPU load was continuously at 100%, and the FPS dropped to 30.Ande wrote:In theory, updating SDL.dll could help XP players, too. I have understood that the graphics system has changed quite a bit and alpha blending may now be faster. But unfortunately, the system is not using hardware surfaces any more and there may be other problems. So if people test that, I would like to hear if it breaks or fixes anything.
Sounds bad... If it is like that for the others, too, I don't think SDL can be upgraded. What resolution do you have? Does it work ok if you use 640 x 480?Tijny wrote:I just tested that, and it's not such a good idea (at least for me). The CPU load was continuously at 100%, and the FPS dropped to 30.
So upgrading SDL had no effect? Or was there a new kind of error message?[PT]VITOR wrote:dont worki try to replace the sdl but the aplication dont start..
but thx for trying to help me...
I tested the updated SDL.dll and the game worked with less load (a quick test). Before the load was about 40-45% and after about 35-40%. Otherwise it seemed the same.Tijny wrote:I just tested that, and it's not such a good idea (at least for me). I use a resolution of 1280x1024, in full screen mode. In windowed mode it works better (50FPS), but still 100% load. At 640x480, it works just fine in both windowed (20% load) and full screen (35%) mode. I'd still recommend the older version however, which gives me about 10% CPU load when I drive alone.Ande wrote:Sounds bad... If it is like that for the others, too, I don't think SDL can be upgraded. Have you tried without sound and in window mode? You can try that by editing sliders.ini and setting AudioOn to 0 and FullScreen to 1.
i try that before, and dosent workThe Dude wrote:Maybe you have done this already but have you tried to run the game in "Windows XP compatible mode"?
If not, here is how you do that:
1. Right click on sliders.exe and choose "properties"
2. Choose tab "Compatibility"
3. In the box named "Compatibility mode", check the box.
Then choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" in the drop-down-list.
4. Click "Ok" and you are done
