well its quite simple, they have made driving into a science.
They've played this game for so long, that they have learned how to pass a curve with the maximum speed and the best driving line. I know arena is a very basic and simple track, but they manage to take the curves while driving on the edge of collision, or going on grass. The best times on tracks like arena have been made while driving with almost a pixel accuracy.
It takes a lot of practice to reach that level and i reccomend to just focus on racing not the records, since it takes a lot of practise to reach that level.
PS: if im not mistaken today is Mike's TS birthday. Happy TS birthday Mike nike.

For the luck of all record hunters, this is not possiblePerhaps someone with a speeder pushed from behind?
After breaking lot of TS 0.86 records, i feared sometimes this it would be possible to get a push by for example Frantic S in a lap before, so that the next lap wouldn't count as c-lap. But fortunately, Antti Mannisto soluted the problem in that way, that cheating by pushing is not possible.
Since you can safe with lucky/accidently pushes from behind or on purpose much time, c laps doesn't really count for many players and so it is sometimes a sad thing, when a good lap was driven, but blocked by another car, especially when it was a lapped car, which should have gone to the side better :/
1st step: think about what might be the fastest line. How did you guys run arena so fast. I have done 50+ laps and haven't goten past 12.73. how!!!
2nd step: test the line each lap and you try to see, if and where (in which curves) it is possible to improve your time
3rd step: try to drive the line, you think it is the fastest one, as good as possible
Of course these 3 steps are actually that, what you do just while driving, actually.
Finally, to make your 3rd step perfect, you need to have a good timing. The timing you need to drive a curve a pixel to the edge/corner...thx xzeal for responsing already, btw.
If you drove 50 laps and got "only" 12.73, which seemed slow for your expectations, maybe the next 50 laps wouldn't have made it better, not sure...
Concentration is necessary each new lap. Say to your self for each next lap, that you try to drive each curve as perfect as you want to. If you are each lap so concentrated, the possibility for good timing is higher and finally the laps you will need to drive the line, you want to drive, ~ <=0.02 seconds less, will be much less and: you know, you will drive it. If you don't keep motivated each lap, then your concentration isn't there and your timing will be only perfect with much luck. So you can drive hundrets of laps and you won't get any perfect one.
In addition to your selfmotivation, to keep concentrated with the aim in front of your eyes, i recommend you to try it only, if you feel able to or if you think, you will feel able to after driving some laps.
What i mean, is: if you are tired and your concentration isn't good, don't waste your time! If you are driving and you see, it makes no fun: stop and do something else, what makes more fun! If you have cold hands/arms, and you see, the reaction of your fingers aren't as good as, when you are warm played, then the possibility of driving your line perfect is until you are not warm a bit or much lower than normal, when you are warm.
Last comment to step 1: you need to have already some experience with your car and its behaviour on colliding different tiles and sometimes your skill in physics might help to find the best line (for you).
In many tracks, this is a deciding part, though in Arena this might be, especially with AntiSlider, relative easy.
I say in this case only relative, since i had 3 different lines with Slider to get under 11.38
If you want, ask me, and we drive Arena together and maybe you can see the points, when i start to steer in, for example.
Yes, you are very right xzeal, thxPS: if im not mistaken today is Mike's TS birthday. Happy TS birthday Mike nike.
I'm thinking since few days, what in special i do today
In each case all that, what makes fun to me
Special greetings, at this case to drivers i met on my first TS day, like:
Victor, Magic Senna, Kwakkie, joulukuusi, Beik, formulax, [Fok!]wasq, Wim, Wood, [xS]Respekt, tuukka, Pete, [ohte]Hrosskell, [PTX]Sup-a-Fly, hejman, BL4CK, swos, SOPJE, Punatiainen, Naz, Ilu, Wayler, (WRC)Kad, Jmz, Remu, Ande, BRAzuca and many more
These were drivers i took from screenshots i took at first day and which i met relative often later, too. Like you might see, most of these drivers aren't anymore driving
I like them all and those nice drivers who followed each days after

Cool. Didn't know that.Ande wrote:Fortunately, those laps are counted as collision laps and will not be taken as official records. That's the point of letter c after some times.

Training session?
Mike,
How about an organized training session for new guys/slower guys? I'm sure i would learn a lot of tips/tricks/techniques, even if I was just observing. I think there are many others what would like to be in on this too. Maybe at certain times there could be a "training" server where drivers advise others?
Just a thought.
Finster (not necessarily a noob, but still slow)

Not long ago, i thought about that (again)...
So far, i used to give special tricks or secrets only to teammembers or to good friends, like xzeal or just general things, when i am asked.
Last time i used to drive often in Demo Servers, especially with EasySlider, since there are driving many nice (new) players. Since TS 1.03 spectating is possible and under special circumstances also spectating during the whole cup, i guess/hope (haven't tested yet).
So far, i saw that people who joined a running race kept more often spectating than just leaving the server again. That's a nice effect in that case, i think. On the other hand, new drivers learned by looking how the car in front is taking the curves.
Since i remember, that i had great fun in my learning process when i started with TS, i don't want to steal new drivers the chance to have the same feeling. That's the reason, i don't start conservations about driving tipps or something else, by my own...except things like to explain what disabling is or something like this...
But if they ask for, i usually give my best, but that's normally not much in a short 30 second chat, when i get question like "how are you so fast?"...
Well, the coming days i will remember to ask new drivers about their vote, if they want for example learn from good drivers how to drive special cars or racing tactis or whatever...hmm, that remembers me to a funny paint image, where i painted different overtaking strategies against pushers/blockers, hehe...
But on the other hand, i am actually still so far waiting for the possibility of recording races, maybe with included extra functions/information, i requested Ande for, so that newbies can just watch the line and see, where to steer in, where to brake, etc...

I don't think it's slow. It's my best time. I just thunk its amazing that you guys can run those times. That training seccesion sounds cool. I think we did that once on your server. Me, you, and AstroZombie. That really helped me. I'm sure it will help others.
