British Speedway Sliders

Post by Mouse » Wed Jun 20, 2007 11:35 pm

Some time ago i found some British TS community. It seems they have a big league there (like a dirt track motorcycle racing).

After lots of exploring at their pages, i think they have a rather odd way of playing TS (maybe the game modded? I don't see links to the actual TS game download, hrmmm).

I posted in their forum but got ignored...

Search Turbo Sliders in youtube and find their videos (it is how i found them in the first place).

I don't think Ande will be happy of this linking. They cracked & modified the game.

Link and site name removed.

It's pretty lame what thay are doing (crack+mod of the game). Perhaps someone of JGG should know about this?

As I recall there was a crack for version 1.05 which worked if you didn't use the master server. I believe Ande already knows about it. Although this is the first I've heard of an actual community using a crack. So I'd say us fair gamers are quite safe. (honestly it is just easier to use 0.86 then crack 1.0X).

Actually it is kinda odd for me to be on the side that owns a legitimate copy. I guess there is hope for me after all...

EDIT: after looking for less then 2 minutes I found one for 1.08 aswell, haven't tested it, but it is from a reliable source (as reliable as crack sites go). This one doesn't actually let you use the master server either, so we are good, no threat there.

1.0.5 crack works online in non official servers (who enjoys the game, buys it in few weeks.. sold more than 20 licenses to players that were using a crack -> they wanted more players to play against)
1.0.8 crack works only offline
Speedway mod is just lame: they use TS without paying, and they have full advantages

Ande knows about both the Speedway mod and those cracks.

Why have you not placed links to the JGG webpage or forum? Or any link to the official TS game download?

TurboSliders isn't OpenSource, it's a shareware software. Your modification is based on TurboSliders' code, and I'd say that it's illegal at least. Anyway, I think that Ande should destroy these big cracked communities (and maybe ask for money, don't know how it works in the legal-way).

The game download i found is 67MB, the official game is 15MB which tells me it is not the original.

and.. why not link to JGG to download the game, if it is not modded?

I had also seen that on Utube before.

Now i downloaded and tried it. Strange but True.

I like the music sound in the menu, but not the tracks and gameplay.

I think that the modifications were just replacing data files and packing all the game files using some program.

Still not a valid reason to mess Ande's game.

Excuse me, are we talking abotu cracks or mods?

1)New tracks and cars etc - all well and good.
2)Changing the game code - not good.
3)Not buying the game and cracking it - very bad.

Which one(s) are we talking about?

1) New tracks and cars are always welcome, but that speedway could've been implemented in normal TS without any change to the game code (illegal)
2/3) It's a big damage for TS/Ande/Community. We are lacking players and then we have some community playing with crack in non-official servers. Well, that's not good at all. Anyway, it's not up to me deciding what to do with them (it's up to Ande and JGG).
