Turbosliders Demo grief....

Post by Schmevan » Fri Jul 20, 2007 12:02 pm

Hey everyone!

I recently downloaded the Turbosliders demo and think its a great game!
Only thing is im a bit hesitant of taking a risk and paying $30 AU for a game that hasn't even be released commercially...

I would like to test the demo more to see if it would be worth it but the limited options just don't allow for it. Every demo server is empty, and in single player I only have the standard 3 tracks which gets boring fairly quickly.

Its fair having some servers unavailable in the demo but limiting drivable tracks to 3 leaves the life span of the game quite small... and if i had more available I would have a much better idea on whether I should purchase or not...

Is there any chance in the world I can get access to more tracks without actually having to purchase the game?

Cheers!

A different demo mode have been discussed quite a lot. I don't know if anything is planned tho, and if it is I wouldn't expect to see it soon.

There used to be quite a lot of activity in demo servers a while ago with even full version players, but I think that might have changed a bit with the new community server. I can only suggest checking the demo servers at different times of the day, and perhaps scanning the forum/different ts sites for images of tracks/cars made by players to get some idea of what to expect. With the track editor and making your own tiles the possibilities are pretty huge... F1, city tracks, rallycross, speedway, battle, punaball(car football) etc.

demo you only get 3 tracks beause its "demo" full version you get all tracks battle track fuel tracks Demolition durby or XBumpz ,infiltration full tracks are never boring but u cant play xb or battle or infiltration by yourself or ai bots

the reason why theres no one on demo servers is because were having alot of fun on the full version and its only $20 US money :) hope to see ya on

Thanks for the feedback!

Those other modes you mentioned sound interesting... pity u cant play any of them in single player

also... with the whole online thing.... does anyone no of any Australian servers or community? Cos without them, even though Ive got a good broadband connection Im gona lag and the online mode will be fairly useless to me... The best ping available when I checked all of the servers was mid 250's.....

This means the only thing I'll be gaining with a purchase is more tracks, if I could have access to those other game modes and servers with a popular Australian server running I would definitely purchase....

but just the tracks for $30 AU seems a bit rich

And also, even in the non demo servers Im never seeing people playing.. is everyone on private servers or am I just sleeping when everyone's on?

You might be sleeping... but most of the very good players are on the full servers, but there's still alot of people on the demo servers.

u dont get it to me i race on servers with 450 oing and no lag ping to me is your computer, if u have good connection and server no or other players no, then they wil ping you and not really much lag out of it im useto racing lag and there are some gliches like yesterday i was playing xb and went through inferno but really i missed him and it looks as i were going to hit him punaball is boring you just play soccer with a car but it can be fun if u practice and score

ah ok... i might give it a try then

still, is their an aus community or server you no of cos having no lag is always better than bearable lag....

but as for servers being full.... the most players Ive ever seen on one was 4.. Im just using the server list though, are these ones your talking about private and you actually have to type in the address? Also know anyone whats the most popular time to be online EST?

No Aus community, you're the 2nd player from Australia that i know of, the other does not play anymore. And there is no server there.

Most popular time to be on seems to be arond 8PM-12 GMT (correct me if I'm wrong, guys).

You will not regret buying this game. Get MSN too and we can call you to some servers.

Yeah Japan would suit me better.... I think its about 12000 km to America for me, and 8000 to Japan so Im guessing that would make a bit of difference in terms of ping. I managed to find a demo server with a few people in it yesterday... its was a us one... as scorpio said I did not lag at all but the other people I was racing against jumped around all over the place so it was kinda hard to overtake.

Regardless I reckon i'll end up buying it though... its a great cheap game and seems to have a good community going... having a decent server would be great all the same though as I could take so much more advantage of the extra features. Sure I can play with the lag but its just that fun having the competition jump around all over the place compared to the nice smooth ai drivers where you can safely overtake.

Mouse, I'm still around, just not playing very much of late (too many other things to worry about, unfortunately...). I got a little annoyed because of the lag issues I was having at one point and that tempered my enthusiasm somewhat. Having a new Aussie player may help now though ;)

Once I get my box set up again, I really ought to get back into playing TS.

Hey fellow Aussie player!

mmmmm i can see what you mean by the lag issues, its really hard to race properly when your opponents are jumping all over the screen..

with any luck hopefully a new server will be created somewhere near the oceanic region...

You can use page+ and page- while playing, it may stop the cars jumping around so much.

cheers for that mouse!

I played around with it a little and found that 240ms prediction made the jumping a lot better than it originally was... its still definitely there but it's definitely less notable also...

any lower than that 240ms makes the opponents cars almost not jump at all but then my car starts jumping all over the place...:D so yeah looks like you havta find a good trade-off between the lag of your car and your opponents

2 Australian players, now you only need to get your friends in to the game, and you can start your own Aus community

Indeed, look at the Malta community. Jeffrey discovered TS, and over time he developed a HUGE community. It's possible, so call your friends! :)

eh eh... i'll c how it goes... ive already asked one bloke.. but even thats taken some convincing sooooo we'll c

anyways im gona go a little off topic.... these extra modes...Xbumps, battle, punaball, fuel and damage...I think thats all of em...

well what out of them is compatible with ai? and if their not at the moment... is there any chance in the future they will have ai support?

if programming the ai is as easy as it is to do for normal races i'll happily do it, but im guessing its not....

Yeah, I just need to find what I've done with my registration code :P

If the lag were consistent, it wouldn't be so bad, but it was always jumping up and down, so it was hard to get some consistency in the prediction settings.

In any case, I'm downloading the Linux version at the moment to try again tonight :)

You can make AI for any car and any track (well almost nay track, bots are stupid, no brains like us).

I am gonna add you to my MSN contact list, and i can tell you how to create AI. Also i can call you for cups and such when you are online.
