Just another rookie asking

Post by Speed0r » Tue Dec 04, 2007 6:27 pm

What is the right and the most quickest way to go thru' a corner? I would like to know is there any other way to do it than just slide in to one and straighten the car after exit and then just go flatout to next one cause that's my kinda style and sometimes it cost's alot time.. so any faster and more smooth way to blast thru' corners? :)

Depends on car and corner, but as a general rule of thump, avoid sliding as long as possible. Use brakes wisely. To get a better idea, take a look at the videos at the ranking section.

Probably the most important thing with all cars is to slow down and accelerate at just the right time. With sliding cars, you should slide as little as possible. If you do need to slide, it's best to do so as early as possible and without interruptions. When exiting a curve, accelerate quickly by steering in short bursts (so that you don't slide).
With AntiSlider, the same basic principle applies: it's best to slow down for a curve (i.e. lift the gas) as early as possible, also without any interruptions. After you've managed that, you can go full throttle all the way to the next curve.

In short: most turns are divided into 2 parts: slowing down and accelerating. Getting those mixed up will cost you precious time.

One more note. Do not give up if and when you do not reach the level of the top players anytime soon. Practically all of the fastest guys have played the game for several years. It requires a lot of training and dedication to master the behavior of the cars in various situations. Do experiment with different lines, other than those driven by the fastest guys. You might even learn something new by doing that. Do experiment with braking, in particular. And remember: all track records are beatable. None has yet driven a perfect lap with any track/car combination (even though Tijny, Dede and Janne are close to that).
