Are there any South Africans who can host a server? Please there is LOADS of lag down here.

Considering how small the Ts community actually is I have large doubts about that :(.

Ya, even the more reason to go freeware. Anyway maybe someday, maybe not. Great game though

Actually I think we've reached the point where the game could go back to freeware, it's not like it's making any notable sales anymore and Mr. Mannisto hasn't released a new version in ages. There don't seem to be any officially hosted servers either? Can't find any players racing either these days. Someone should ask Ande about this in IRC, I doubt he reads this forum and as far as I know the future state of the game is all up to him?

The only downside I can see are the websites hosted by JGG going down.

PS: All of the above is related to going to TS at 21:00CET, supposedly an active time in TS, and not seeing anyone online.

Oho, good good. That was exactly what I've been discussing with Ande and Jani lately. JGG is available to keep the master server & turbosliders.com to their servers, even if we go freeware. But in this case, I wouldn't be surprised if we reach quickly loads of traffic. No idea if ads will be enough for JGG to pay enough bandwidth.

Anyway, I think that in some months we'll have good news :) Or I hope so, at least!

Yeah, couple of years ago, before the 1.0 version which was released 30.11.2004.

Actually I believe Anddru wrote to Ande recently about a possible new version. Although Ande wanted to make a new version, he simply didn't have the time. But he said that he'd prefer that the game became freeware again.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, Anddru (if you read this).. or Ande as well..

If im right and Ande is the game developer and he wants to go back to freeware he should be able to. Why can't he post a free download link on this site or tell JGG that the game is free

This requires him to dedicate some time to remove the license system, or to create some other system to distribute licenses to everybody.

I think we'll have to wait couple of months, at least.
