Luckily the game has many features right now, and I don't see anything that has to be implemented. But it could be nice if we could find some guys available to release new versions of the game (I don't mean open source, they need to work together and keep in contact with Ande anyway).
Actually, the game development stopped already over two years ago. I agree with that no new features are needed. The game is good as it is now.

Of course we should go freeware, this game always should have been freeware. Personally I don't understand why those who purchased the game should be rewarded as I also don't understand the philosophy of "what is more to someone else is away from me" We have played the game for eternity at practically no cost. Going freeware just increases the value of money invested, rewarding us with more players and hence (hopefully) with more enjoyable gaming experience.

True, but keeping a distinction between those who paid for a license and those who play for free could be good. This way in the future there could be features (as I explained, more like web-based features than game features) for those who contributed in the past and for those who will contribute in the future (such as donations).
We don't have to forget that if we want to keep a centralized website such as TurboSliders.com, bandwidth will increase much if we'll go freeware. JollyGoodGames confirmed that they can continue hosting the website, but I wonder what would happen if hosting costs will become too big for them. I think it's better having some kind of donation system, or something that generates money for our needs.

About unlocking only some game mods, and keep some others playable only for money (PunaBall, as FDV suggested), it's totally up to Ande. But in long-term view, that could kill PunaBall itself. Maybe it's just better having the whole game as freeware.

There's one thing to fix in future TS version, though: the track editor bug (custom tiles).

Freeware would be good. Just remove the license activation, and that's it.
The game is good as it is now.
Exactly. No need to change anything. But that doesn't mean Ande couldn't do new version some day, even though it would be a freeware.

well, Punaball might be the mod that suffer more with the freeware, i can see a lot of noobs(new players) messing up the games and ruining the fun of it, just imagine a lot of alonso's out there. There's the problem of number of players too, 1 server =4 players, we would need a lot of puna servers to satisfy most of the players or just watch a spec race all of the time. If that "pay more" solution its easy and dont complicate the freeware process i agree with it, if not we'll find a solution(more servers etc).

There's only one thing about freeware, we probably loose the "small family thing" we have right now, where almost everyone "knows" everyone, the good enviroment we have right now might be killed by dumb people. We can handle with 1 Kometen can we handle 10?I mean, its hard when u want to play and dont have players, but when u play (arranged games) we always have fun and that's better that having players all the time and no fun in it.

If the game goes freeware do we still have the support? when new windows get released and stuff?

But we have admins. If they aren't enough, we'll pick new ones.

I don't think it would change much for this. I mean, right now TS on Vista doesn't work properly, so freeware won't make things worse.

I keep supporting freeware solution with punaball limitation, as I think that punaball is strong enough to survive activation fees, and the incomes would help the game administration.

About the ''small family thing''.. isn't it the problem we are trying to solve ?

That would be yes. But seems no one in my country who play TS except ME.

That's because our game advertisements is really low and other gamers (3D Gamers on Asia) said that 2D Games are Crap. Ugh @ that!!![/u]

That makes no sense to me. No one outside the current top20 would pay for it if the game itself was free.

I say let us be free once again!

I'm not in the top 20 but I would have paid to play punaball, it has a great appeal in my opinion.

That's welcome if TS goes free, paid 10€ but that was years ago and doesn't matter. I would like to see support for moving and animated objects finally.

Normal worker makes that in an hour anyway. I wouldn't mind paying more if we got new updates.

So that's why we always get very shitty service in Tallinn... :P

e: btw there's a new store next to superalko, it's name was Marski something (can't remember, was too drunk then) where 10-pack of 40% costs like 33 euros. I call that a bargain 8)

Well, he said it was a possibility, but he also said that he would like to make a new version (which ideas me/you/etc. had), but that he just didn't had the time.

After all, I just got a feeling that nothing will change. We won't get Freeware, and we won't get a new version.

Anyway, I kind of agree with Tijny. Freeware could mean even more lamers. But after all, you can still make private servers, so that wouldn't be such a big problem I guess.
In my new website you can find my tracks and cars!

Hope you will enjoy!

I don't mind if it goes free. Every time I try to play it online, there is nobody with the full version available to play, so it may actualy be a good thing if it goes free.

Freeware Would be nice, but an update to TS is the only thing i'd consider a.t.m if people are having problems running Ts on Vista. :?

Running TS on Vista is absolutely trouble-free for me.. honestly. Also with a widescreen monitor. All you had to do was manually change the resolution of of the game to the one of your screen's in sliders.ini.
Freeware + new features/mods added would be best imo. You can always lame back at lamers and fight them in other ways..

Only problems which I have experienced is that randomly and rarely sliders.exe will crash when track file is broken. Though is it because of Vista is another question...
