Okay, earlier or later that had to happen (that someone starts talking about 1.04 before it comes out) :)

I post now to make suggestions to video-cutters.
Video-cutters? How to cut videos?
I think all details will be documented, but here the answer:

cutting videos will be not easy at the current version, especially it will be hard in long racedistances.

I save all races in the recording settings.
All races will be saved in the subfolder "autosave" of the folder "video", at the moment. When there won't be automatic moving into subfolders like 2005_04_28, then i will write an extra tool, which is copying videos into subfolders, like this.

How to cut a video?
Just watch a replay and then you can

a) make a replay of this replay by "cutting" it by pushing F4.
Example: you drive a race, you drove your personal best lap and later you "cut" this race replay, beginning recording 2 seconds before the lap started and ending 2 seconds after.
-> later you can then see where you can improve your own record
or you change the perspective to drivers, who drove a better lap, but:
1) you hear still the sound of your car
2) you cannot really see if they brake or not
3) due to client intervals in recording settings the cars may warp sometimes (too much)
4) sometimes it won't be really a help to see other people's lines, when your line is actually the same ^^ (my experience of the first lines i watched from Tijny's speeder line, when he drove a 21.921 at my server in Forestry ^^ -> it has not helped much, since i had the same line, but could reach only a low 22.0 -> so, i keep on developing my lines by my own, like always, since they are usually optimal)

b) make subfolders in your video folder, like groups:
- Demos (from others or the default videos)
- Fun/Curious Stuff (like many cars stuck/crashing at the same point)
- TrackReviews (where you show your own track or you show hints/shortcuts)
- CarReviews (where you show tricks with some cars)
- Modifications (PunaBall matches (Soccer) or xtremeBumpz (kind wrestling ;))...)
- TSComics ;) (old players know what i mean..-> driving in a citytrack and talking stuff)
- Stunts (curiouses of races or provideos, maybe also trackreviews of skateboardarena tracks or something like this -> example: jump with superspeed over water, then grinding over trees or cars or kind walls etc.)
- Tournaments (Full Copies of autosaved races or cutted best race scenes of special perspectives -> for example i cutted 2 different perspectives of the same 68 laps race)
- Records (personal best lap records or best laps cutted of a race -> at the current version it's terrible to drive a crazy record at lap 49 of 50 laps local...-> then i have to let the replay run in the background 48 laps before i can cut the lap -> in that time my hands are cold again and it needs many laps to get back in the good form -> so sometimes i just keep on driving and cut the good lap(s) later)

Ande will make cutting later easier i think/hope (he is already informed about that "problem") ;)
Hopefully it will be also possible to convert recorded laps into "ghost laps" in a later TS version. And hopefully it will be possible, that 2 or more recorded laps can be replayed overcross at the same time as ghosts, so that laps can be compared :)
-> take that as additional request Ande, in the case i haven't told it to you yet :)

Ok, now i will make a vote, if videos of lap records should be public or not and why etc.

As usual, Mike has lots of good ideas. Hopefully, some of them will get implemented in the future :).

Is it out?

Has 1.0.4 been officially released? I check (almost daily) on the turbosliders page of this site and it still list 1.0.3 as the version to download. So Jimmie how'd you get it?

Of course I'm interested in the Linux version. (being the OS snob that I am) 8)

Thanks

Yes, you can actually already download 1.0.4 from the Jollygood download page. The reason why it isn't advertized yet is that the preferred download method is via download.com and they still have the old version (it takes some time to update it). There was also one problem in the first Windows 1.0.4 release candidate which required us to make another build last week. Some people may have the old version 1.0.4w but there is no need to update from it to 1.0.4W unless there is odd lag even in local training.

Well Ande, I have 1.04 for a couple of days now and, I fine. No lag at all. None of the server's lag or train mode... :D

You shouldn't be able to download 1.0.3 any more as the game was just updated to download.com, too. The home page will very soon be updated to mention 1.0.4, too.
