escape problem

Post by sV » Thu May 05, 2005 3:27 am

Hello

I got a problem, well my cousin does.
When he is racing TS - during the race - he cant press Esc
withot restarting the computer - as he presses
esc the pc shuts down. Can anyone tell me
what might be the problem because there is no other way to
exit the game and its not possible to change the esc key

thanx

Does pressing Esc cause the computer to reset even when Turbo Sliders is not on? Can you test what happens if your cousin connects a server and the server ends the race - does it go ok then? Does Esc cause problems when in menus, too?

Hi again

Esc is doing problems just with TS - just when racing, in local game
and in the network game, but not in menus. And even if the race finishes
it still causes computer to shut down

If you have any idea how to fix this please let me know

That is a really odd problem, I haven't heard of anything like that before and would like to get more information.

What machine does your cousin have? Which operating system and video card does it have? And what is the TS version used? You can see the version in the main menu (lower-left corner).

Is TS the only program that causes this kind of problems of the computer being shut down? Could you try if the problem still persists if you run the game in a windowed mode (go to options->video, set full screen off and restart the game) or without sounds (go to options->audio and set audio off).

To help you more, I would need to get output.txt from a game session where you have started the game with extra debug on and the crash occurs. You can do that by starting the game with command-line parameter "-d 3". One way to run the game that way is to go to start menu -> run... and run cmd.exe. Then go to the sliders directory using CD command (for example, cd "C:\Program Files\Turbo Sliders") and run the game by typing "sliders -d 3". After the crash, before you restart the game, there is a big file output.txt in the Turbo Sliders directory and I would be really interested in knowing what are the last few lines in it. Then I might be able to help.

Ok, it's good to hear it works now. I wonder what the problem was, maybe one bit was broken or something :).
