Barenfold GP:
Started 8th, made a decent start not letting anyone through. No mistakes.. whatever, started as expected.
(lap# / lap# = completed / race laps)
6/50 - Made a mistake on the right of the track, went into sand and somehow kept driving in it. Lost lots of time and a few positions.
13/50 - Hangman catches me and we begin a battle.l
16/50 - Held up by a Pablinho mistake (one of many
)
21/50 - Passed by Hangman
22/50 - Passed Hangman
26/50 - Made pitstop, out just behind Etmil.
29/50 - Saw Tijny and dede just behind me, they were close and I did not want to mess up their battle. Tijny was flying from behind (right side of track) and I tried to move over, but I moved wayyyyy to far... off track.. into a wall. From 7th to 10th. f***!!!!!
After this I did my best driving... fast laps and no mistake.
33/50 - Got back up to Hangman, passed him (sweet pass).
36/50 - Held up by Shuyguy a bit.
37/50 - Passed and re-passed by Etmil in final hairpin (overlap moves).
41/50 - Hangman self-destructs. Crashes.. and that's the last i saw of him.
43/50 - Passed Etmil finally. He makes some mistakes after this and I pulled away.
45/50 - Tried to let Badeend pass in final hairpin but got a bump (not his fault). He made a "That's what she said" joke before the race so he is OK in my book!
After that, drove the last 4 laps of my race to finish 7th.
Final Thoughts:
7th was probably my best possible finish. Ciutz seemed fast, finished 14 seconds in front of me. Maybe I could have battled him but not today. I would have been pissed if I did not finish in front of Etmil (after my epic crash) but I salvaged the race. Another battle with Hangman like the last race, but this one was for many more laps. Fine result for me.

Etmil told me to analyse the accident at lap 43 between Mouse and him. I consider the contact like a normal racing accident. Fair men wouldn't like to overtake in those cases.
In the other hand, Etmil crashed in the next curve, so the accident isn't completely connected to the contact. Mouse's push damaged Etmil's line, but Mouse overtook Etmil just because of Etmil's mistake in next curve.

I always drove that turn deep, only tapping my brake, then braked fully into the hairpin. Etmil braked harder and earlier than I did, and as a result, I bumped into him. I probably would not have passed him as a result, but he crashed into the hairpin anyway.dede wrote:Etmil told me to analyse the accident at lap 43 between Mouse and him. I was doing my best to put pressure on Etmil, it worked.

Lap 0/50 - I had a very good quali, qualified way in front of dede with more fuel than him. Very nice result by Badeend too.
Lap 8/50 - The 3 of us were close together in the first 8 laps, then Badeend crashed so dede and I were left battling alone.
Lap 15/50 - I made a few mistakes, so dede overtook me. No big deal I thought, since I knew I had more fuel anyway.
Lap 18/50 - I had a few bad moments, so dede started to pull away from me. Right when I made another big mistake, he crashed, possibly distracted by my mistake?
Lap 23/50 - dede entered the pitlane, about 1 second in front of me. I knew his lead would have to be bigger for me to be really worried.
Lap 25/50 - I drove 2 more good laps and pitted myself. It was exactly halfway the race, so the fuel amount was a no-brainer. Some quick reasoning led me to believe I would enter the track with a solid lead, but to my surprise dede was right behind me. That's when I already had a hunch that he would have too little fuel in the end.
Lap 27/50 - To my delight, Badeend starts dueling with dede again. His tank was way emptier though, because he was on a 2-stopper.
Lap 30/50 - dede is held up by Etmil and Mouse makes a funny move in order to avoid blocking me.
Lap 33/50 - dede crashes - from that point forward he was never really close to me anymore, so I just had to be cautious not to crash myself.
Lap 48/50 - My hunch was confirmed, dede was out of fuel so I was able to cruise to the victory.
I pretty much drove a perfect race; no crashes, only some bad moments. Nice to get a confirmation that I can also win on tracks I didn't design.

Gave up in the end, lag was unbearable. Glad that one of my funnyer crashes ruined pingus race (by making him rofl so much
)
Nice track, a bit short.
Im trying new things to get my connection better, Ive noticed my brothers got a very fast connection on his computer (he is a trackmania player and trackmania will not work on my PC because of lags, works great on his tho, and his PC is much worse performance wise than mine), so I am going to see if I can use his PC for races.

Maybe he is downloading porn all the time, and disables it while playing.shyguy1001 wrote:Ive noticed my brothers got a very fast connection on his computer (he is a trackmania player and trackmania will not work on my PC because of lags, works great on his tho, and his PC is much worse performance wise than mine), so I am going to see if I can use his PC for races.

Wireless is bad for online gaming, at least for me. It's making warps every minute or so, even if you are 10cm far from the station. Not sure if it's just me having two sucky wireless stations or some interferences, but I would never play a serious race with wireless.shyguy1001 wrote:perhaps I might change back to a wired connection.
My comments about the race:
Practice
Everything went alright. I tested the car with high and low fuel. As usual I didn't calculate any tactic and I focused on finding a good speed and constancy.
Qualifications
I obtained a good time after two laps, but I planned to drive for the pole position this time, so I kept driving until lap 7. Unluckily I didn't manage to improve my performance, so I ended up behind Tijny and Badeend, with lower fuel. Terrible.
Race
First stint wasn't very good, but at least I managed to run away from the group, together with the two leaders. They were driving quite fast and I didn't find enough constancy to get close enough and try to overtake them. After some laps, Badeend's crash opened the way to catch Tijny. Yet again, I was driving a bit faster than Tijny, but I was also making more mistakes, so I didn't manage to overtake him until he made a mistake. When I obtained the lead, I started to drive more constantly, so I decided to push more in order to put some pressure over Tijny and run away. That seemed to work, until I tried too much and I crashed. I kept the lead but Tijny was right behind me - and my pitstop was coming.
I entered the pit with no gap on Tijny, so I tried to concentrate while refueling.. I had to drive two perfect laps with high fuel - and hope he wouldn't have driven sick laps with low fuel, in order to keep close to him after his pit. I refueled between 81% and 83%, making the same mistake as usual: 76% startfuel = 23 laps -> race is 50 laps -> two laps were missing in first stint in order to reach half race -> so let's refuel 76%+7% in order to drive 25 laps. Too bad that I forgot the two laps missing in first stint.
Anyway, I couldn't notice this math mistake until now, since I was very tight with the fuel at the end (probably without mistakes, crashing and blocking - and maybe with some eco driving) I would've made it.
However, second stint was quite enjoying, since I didn't know about my fuel mistake and I started to push very hard in order to catch Tijny. Badeend started to battle with me for the second place, thanks to his low fuel. That costed me some time, but it was worth battling with him: I made a legendary overtaking from the outside, one of best moments of my TS career!
After passing Badeend I started to close the gap with Tijny, but then unluckily I didn't understand Etmil's line and I got blocked behind him.
That 'block' was a problem, since I had to push quite much again in order to get very close to Tijny. Few laps later, as a result, I crashed.
Race could've gone better with some more luck and less mistakes, even with wrong fuel. But once again, everything was messed up by the terrible qualification. Probably I shouldn't have stopped after the 7th lap, or then again I should've stopped directly at lap 2.
Looking forward for next race, hoping for better decisions.

Thanks for that advice, I will try and see what I can do about setting up a non-wireless connection. Just watched the race back through, twas pretty awesome. Badeend is my driver of the day, just had the wrong strategydede wrote:Wireless is bad for online gaming, at least for me. It was a close pit lane exit for tjiny with dede (I suppose wouldnt of being if dede had taken correct fuel, but still exiting to watch).
I am pleased with my "getting out of the way" performance, didnt feel I compromised anyones laptime. Even I lol'd at some of my crashes xD
I really doubt that. You were about 2% short in the end - which equates to having to drive 17-18 seconds faster than you did. Would've been better to wait 0.4 more seconds in the pitbox.dede wrote:Anyway, I couldn't notice this math mistake until now, since I was very tight with the fuel at the end (probably without mistakes, crashing and blocking - and maybe with some eco driving) I would've made it.
If by a perfect race you mean 27 29.4s in a row, then sure. And with eco driving you wouldn't have won anyway.dede wrote:Which isn't impossible with a perfect race. I'm not trying to start a battle here, but I want to ask. What (in your eyes) did I do wrong?Etmil wrote:Yeah, well..![]()
But next race, you're on for battles for 6th-8th position!Let's try to have a healthy competition and rivalry here (and avoid questionable incidents like this, of course I'll also try to drive better).
Up until you crashed, I was not even trying to pass you. I wanted to keep as close as possible and figure out the best time to pass. I got really close and we had different techniques for entering turn 2, so I bumped into you. From the replay, it did not seem my bump directly caused you to crash, as you turned right yourself into the barrier.
A friendly rivalry could be fun for this cup, you're up by only 1 point in the championship, so we could have some more battles.
PS - I'm pretty sure everyone here knows my way of racing... If i f*** someone up, I'll let them pass if I felt it was unfair.

Now for something completely different, I made AI lines for Eisenstadt, the first track of this league. They're included in the track's download package. If I get positive feedback and/or requests to do so, I might make bots for other tracks as well.
Please note that at level 5, these bots will pretty much (well, almost) be as fast as myself. You have been warned.

You have my positive feedback.Tijny wrote:...If I get positive feedback and/or requests to do so, I might make bots for other tracks as well...
I've started to race locally with bots at level 5 with my own lines. But it's surely more interesting to race against your lines even i will finish always last.
I think it could be interesting to have some aifill (6?) in gpor server with a quite high skill level. In this case i think the best is to have aiskill 5 but without perfect lines.
My idea is that with more racers (even if they are bot) the number of human players could increase a lot.
Wont work i think... people dont like to loose al the time against bots.. they should be avarage then it would work i thinklux2 wrote:You have my positive feedback.Tijny wrote:...If I get positive feedback and/or requests to do so, I might make bots for other tracks as well...![]()
