Diagonal Tiles are possible, but diagonal checklines would be new to me.
Mouse, if you see startlines for example in a F1 track of...Punatianen for example...then you are wrong -> the startline is vertical and the middle of the checkline is circa crossing the middle of the tile of the startline.

Just type a line with "StartDirection nnn" into the .trk file. The "nnn" stands for degrees starting from left [0 degrees] and going clockwise from there. I think.

Diagonal checklines are not possible and diagonal start/finish -lines are bad because the checkline isn't on the "white-line" . It may look in the track that you crossed the finish-line but it isn't true because the checkline is always vertical/horizontal.

It's is better to design a track rotating the track, if copying a f1-track, so that you can place the start/finishline vertical/horizontal.

I've made a few custom tiles and some other custom stuff, and really the most information I got for learning how to do it was in all the help files that come with game, and also files like cardef.car and by looking at the .trk files to see how they work. There are some good websites too that have info on doing this. Go to www.mikenike.com and check out his "track and car editing" links (on his Links page)

Just look at my trackdesign-guide and there is a "tiles for tracks" -section. http://www.dhost.info/sliderpoint/trackdesign.php.

U ass :)
I know that you can place that starting line like that but if you drive next to the buildings in that track, you are faster than driving across the other side of the startline. Startdirection just changes the direction of cars and not the checkline.
