I'm either playing the "lag card" or I'm not "the only one who has lag". Make up your mind first. I'm telling you the truth. If you believe it or not, I couldn't care less. It is what it is and you doubting it or not won't change the facts. Just watch the replay.Del wrote:Oh you're not the only one who has lag. http://www.uplo4d.com/images6/313289835xianlaolag.png Here is where I had what I like to call "TSE lag" which means that I probably have 3-5 FPS. I don't know what causes it and it mostly seems to happen at track corners. Of course that race was less than stellar for me anyway but playing the lag card with me? I don't thinks so.
And why is it depressing to want to actually be able to participate in a race if somebody who does participate doesn't actually give a f*** and only races for a few laps and then quits? You've seen how badly reirom wants to race. He could've raced in Bödn had you told that you're a bit laggy and probably won't race to the end so some noob can come and race.
And most of us are adults. Shouldn't adults be able to give up their spot if they think someone can get more out if than them?
Especially now that the qualifying seems to have killed most of the FC action (of which there was less left at times during the WW) there's not much to do in TS besides wanking and the one race (which will hopefully be two for me of course) on Sunday.
All I know is that we don't need this kind of shit here. If you or Reirom want someone's spot, go practice. That's what most of us do. Don't expect the spot to fall on your lap due to some administrator's decision. If you and Reirom need that kind of thing to get into the main race, you are depressing indeed, especially with all that fuss after only a test race.
Right now I'm making the top 20 but if someday I don't, don't expect me to come on this board, accuse people of "not giving a f*** about the game" and then ask for them to be banned and so I can get in. That's way too sad.
It's also sad that no one commented about my quota idea. I think it's a good idea. It's fair and straight to the point. It's much better than having Del playing nanny's role and judging people's motivations. It's an objective and not subjective analysis. We don't need thousands of judges, we need one clear rule. I'd rather be out of the season because I couldn't play for X races than being out because someone like Del thinks I don't give a f*** about the game, which is a pathetic assumption given the fact I played last season too. Like I said, we're adults here and I don't think we need this.
Like I said before, if I feel like I can't take part on the season due to lag or whatever reason, I'll give up my spot. Whatever needed for you and Reirom to stop whining.

What if you have severe lag and do terribly (i.e me in first test race) and nowhere near what you could do, would then you also be expected to retire?dede wrote:Lag won't be considered a good reason to quit a race. Players will have a whole warmup + some other training sessions before the race in order to test lag.
Of course, if lag comes during the race only and the race itself becomes impossible, we understand that player might want to quit. But this can't happen all races (or if it does, the player should consider to retire from the league if he's not able to continue).

Can someone give me the video from the bodn race? I would like to watch, sad I know
Personally I never had lags that made my game impossible. Ok, sometimes you warp out of the track (it happened in last race's first lap to me), but it's not big stuff. It irritates, but that's all.shyguy1001 wrote:What if you have severe lag and do terribly (i.e me in first test race) and nowhere near what you could do, would then you also be expected to retire?
I understand that people from brazil might have bigger problems, but they shouldn't quit unless they are unable to race at all. And if they are unable to race for two races, then maybe they should retire from the cup.
This said, we're here for racing and having fun. Let's go!
I don't know what you're trying to say with this. Just because you've never experienced any problems of the sort, it doesn't mean other people don't have them. It's not uncommon for lags to make your game completely unplayable, especially if you're on a shared connection. I know if someone in my house is using heavy bandwidth while I'm playing, my ping can go as high as 800ms for longer periods of time - I wouldn't say that's "not big stuff."dede wrote:Personally I never had lags that made my game impossible. That's your own problem. If you can't play because of that, you don't play.Tijny wrote:I know if someone in my house is using heavy bandwidth while I'm playing, my ping can go as high as 800ms for longer periods of time - I wouldn't say that's "not big stuff."
@Fifcio007: what's your nickname in the game?
Sad? I watch every replay of the race like 3 times.............. Its AWESOMENESSshyguy1001 wrote: What if you have severe lag and do terribly (i.e me in first test race) and nowhere near what you could do, would then you also be expected to retire?

OK, then I just won't play whenever the situation I described can potentially happen. (= ALWAYS)dede wrote:That's your own problem. If you can't play because of that, you don't play.
...
Seriously, you could be a little more understanding, it was just an example after all. Not everyone is blessed with a connection that never lags.
Nope. If you play 2 races and you quit both of them at lap 3 because it's unplayable, then maybe it's better not to take part in third race, or to race in 19-38th race for a serious lagtest.Tijny wrote:OK, then I just won't play whenever the situation I described can potentially happen. (= ALWAYS)
Players can actually suffer lags or even get disconnected for few minutes (it happened to me too in some cups), no problems.
Yeah, it is big stuff. The drivers from the A category might not be affected that much, since they can regain their speed after the lag and retake the positions they lost easier than the ones that are classified as B or C and lower. Then again, the A's have tougher opposition as well (fellow A drivers etc). Anyway, last race I lost some 4-5 positions due to a lag that prevented me from steering into a corner. The car went straight on, and to grass.Tijny wrote:I don't know what you're trying to say with this. Usually, my connection is quite slow when compared to the other ISPs and stuff that is available, but I live in the countryside, not in a city and that seriously narrows down the available connections I can get. That said, I am still happy to know that the connection I have right now is, despite its flaws, quite reliable. The only unreliability I get is when it's shared (like you mentioned): when other people are browsing the net, when my dad is working (he's works in the department of radiology in a hospital and is the one who takes a look at all those x-ray pictures and submits answers to other hospitals; you might imagine these pictures are quite heavy in size). But yea, that is my OWN problem. There's nothing the organizers here or Hevonen or Pingu can do about it, but I'll still try to make it through every race, hoping the connection won't be shared while I drive. Cause when it isn't shared, it is quite good to play and that's what made my 'locked steering lag' all the more queer in the last race.
Yeah so in short, you can't do anything about the lag and you probably know beforehand you will have it. If you have it, deal with it, crash and drive on. But don't quit halfway since probably alot of other drivers would of greatly wanted that spot and they would have completed the race... even if others are slow it's still way more fun then playing with quiters. Look to tijny, didn't he lag out first race in xianlao (previous season) he started a big comeback and was just 1 lap short to take me though
In my opinion all comments here makes sense...(about the lag issue). However i think thats just like dede said,,, the problem will be taken care of IF it happens. There is multiple of different things that can happen while racing, and we can not discuss everything before it happend.
If Heidi Klum for example knocks on your door in the middle of the race on sunday... it is in my opinion acceptable to quit the race, without having to give up your spot in the next race.
