/restart command or /continue command that would work everywhere might be good, yes. Currently, if you are using an autoserver, you can simulate /restart with the command /autotime /cupend 0 if you are in the Cup End state.
I have tried to limit the number of options in the Start Server window as it would otherwise become too complex. After all, you would need to add already everything that is already in the main menu there...

Hello , its me with crazy ideas again :
-what if next TS version will be with 2 brand new tracks from ANDE? I think number 25 looks better than 23
(our great Master Tijny said once:"I know every single milimeter in every default track")It would be like fresh wind to all "old" TS players & recordsmakers...
-what about cars mileage (kilometerage) in statistics? Hm, I think it would be interesting to know how much miles(kilometers) , road units(?) or hours did you spent in your favourite game...

I think that need a PAUSE button to local games.
The possibilite to run against anyone skill level, like 5 AI form the skill level 1, 5 of the 4, 5 of the 3... and then... because all the AI players run too much near of each one.
Another ideia is to choose each car will, each AI player run.
Example: The TSB F1 Cup. 2 players have the same Team car. If I want to choose 10 teams and 2 players in each team i will have a F1 GP, like real. And the skill difference between each team car.
Thanks!

I like the Idea of the 2 new tracks, but its not necessary, just an idea,
The idea of the pause, I don't know anything about how it would work, but I is could be really convientent to have one (local only) if, like nature calls or the phone rings... good thoughts.

Start grid size would be a nice idea yes. Unfortunately, now it would require making a new track file format
.
And new track editor and tiles would be super-nice, too
. That would introduce many backward-compatibility problems, too, but maybe one day if I can find an easy way to solve them and we get more graphics done.

New tiles --> new files --> too many files
Would it be possible to make editor to force all track files to a new folder? It's annoying when a track contains lots of files and you are trying to keep your tracks at least in some kind of order.
These days most of new tracks I bump in to have nice graphics, wich is nice. It also leads to a large number of files for a single track. After intensive playing one might have hundreds of files in one folder, and these files are usually named that way that it is nearly imbosible to address them to the track they belong. There are few solutions to make it easier for a fellow gamer to organize his tracks and distribute these new tracks with nice graphics and thingies:
1. If a track contains more than two default track files, designer could name these extra files after the track (examble: Trackname --> extra file: Tracknam1) or after the designer - when using the same file in many tracks (example: Trackname --> extra file: sokkesfile). It also helps keeping track of tracks when all track files, even when there are only two of them, includes designer's "stamp" on the file's name (for examble like Punatiainen and Jarno does).
2. Editor could force these extra track files to a new folder named after the track. This would be easiest way for players to keep their tracks organized. The tracks would also stay in order when one redistributes them. This would work better than forcing all track files to a new folder, because choosing tracks would get too complex then.
3. Now I'm not sure if I'm in a wrong thread but I'll post this anyway. Ja kysyn itseltäni, miksi kirjoitan enklanniksi, kun olisi voinut viestiä tämän Andelle ihan härmäksikin.

Re: New tiles --> new files --> too many files
Yes, that is a known problem. I am not sure if changing the editor would help since people could still just pack the files, not the folders with them. Actually, it could be good if people distributed their tracks so that they would automatically be extracted to a folder of their name (or what do others think?). One solution the game could do would be to pack all required files in one big pack file. The bad thing in this is of course that common files could not be shared...sokke wrote:Would it be possible to make editor to force all track files to a new folder? Records Server suggestion
Ok, Ande, this is my idea: Have a section on the records site, in "ALL" where you have the people who have done all tracks with all cars. Something like this:
place, name, easyslider, speeder, antislider, spinner, slider, average place
1. Tijny: 1 1 1 1 4=1.6
2. Mike Nike: 2 2 2 2 1=1.8
3. [WCR]Matti: 4 4 10 14 3=7
4. [WP] Pappa: 17 8 11 13 12=12.2
5. benzinfurz: 23 10 21 4 15=14.6

Re: New tiles --> new files --> too many files
my quote but this is my impressionAnde wrote:i dont wanna update the editor LOL
example: its boring to place for many times the same tile like grass around all the track (if i make a track 2000x2000? omg) so some button like FILL to make this in less of 1 second can help a lot of maker
Re: Records Server suggestion
This would indeed be nice, but of course ordered by time instead of positions (I guess that is what you meant, but this was much easier to make)JimMiE22o2 wrote:Ok, Ande, this is my idea: Have a section on the records site, in "ALL" where you have the people who have done all tracks with all cars. Like this, it would also be possible to make a total-time for each track. Example (Arena):
Code: Select all
1. Tijny 58.017
2. Mike Nike 58.058
3. sV 58.175
4. ...
etc
Hehe, i extra waited with my comment to that topic
Of course, these "All Cars" categories for each track AND for each group (all, demo, small, medium, big) would be very nice.
It might be surely easy to summarize just the times, but then the worth/value of the cars would be different - the speeder would be the most important and EasySlider the less...
So far there were not many speeders in totaltime recordlist listed - i think people would probably start driving more with all cars, if this one part of this kind of recordlist system would be an official one. So far it and other parts of this system existed only in usual tournaments and in relative unpublished bases.
But, if there is the wish to let cars count same in their worth/value, then there have to be relative recordlists instead of absolute ones.
One relative example:
Arena:
Speeder: sV 9.803 (100%), Tijny 9.820 (99,18%), Mike Nike 9.850 (99,48%)
...other cars
All cars: Tijny ... (98,xy%), Mike Nike (98,xy%), ...(average of sum of car[1]%+...+car[5]%)
Oh well, i am too busy and lazy ^^ to calculate now, so i just to some circa matching values...

It's funny that this idea has been requested... I have been recently working on an application that does exactly what you guys are requesting, plus more.
You will also be able to select a player name and get a list for all default tracks: overall ranking, ranking per car (default cars), time behind record, total time for each car and all default tracks, and overall ranking for all tracks combined (per car)
This program I am creating will also give similar stats for ALL of your tracks. That's why it would be GREAT if there were a "master" record server, one that kept track of records for any track ever made (or at least every track that records were imported from). If such a master server existed, then you'd be able to see how you rank with any particular car at any track (i.e. pu_Jumbo with the TSB-F2 car).
Another feature I plan to implement is a configuration of Player Aliases so that if you select a player name, it will also show you records made by other player names that the same person uses (i.e. "[GER]MikeNike" = "MikeNike" = <whatever other names he uses>)
And yet another feature would be to be able to configure your AI cars, race settings, track settings, and other game settings, all through a nice and friendly Windows GUI.
I'm writing this program with VB.NET and hope to be able to distribute it sometime this month... My first attempts to test distribution didn't work out so well, but I know why and I'm working on it.
SO, hopefully people will try it and even more hopefully they will like it.
And as for a "master records server" like I mentioned, Ande, what do you think?
One problem I see is that if it were to be created, and used as the current record server is used, downloading and uploading would take FOREVER considering the number of tracks and cars and players. Therefore I suggest, perhaps, a method external to TS that can capitalize on a users (and the server's) total bandwidth for file transfers. I have some ideas on this myself, but in the end, I believe that Ande/JGG should be involved in most decisions.
...thanks for suffering through my long post

Nice to hear about that program, it is interesting to see it in action
.
About that record server with all tracks and cars, as you mentioned, the problem is that the required amount of data to move is very big. Also, it might be better to build a system like that on a real database. Unfortunately, that would be quite a big job, but we can try to think of something.

Im some idea that to implement all to the inside of an alone exe "sliders. exe" not ports to nothing, because everything should do by ande "having the source code:)" therefore i believe the better thing to do is to create some tool to part in manner that the big one do not should do it alone is only ande.
