Well, something tells me that what you said looks far more easy to say then to implement it!Mike Nike wrote:it sounds so easy to me, that im afraid you mean something else.
anyway, one solution is: taking the last "hold down keys" and simulating a carposition update function x times.
if normally carposition is updated via formula 50 times a sec or so and the prediction is gonna be 100ms, then we update car position 5 times in order to get the prediction position of the car (without collision detections).
with collision detections it gets a bit complicated with a lot of cars close to each other, having all different serverdiff etc..
anyway, just had a nice idea for static tracks (but...with moving trackpart objects there might be more procedures to consider):
logging car positions from earlier laps in order to make steering predictions..in order to make even better future predictions of carpositions.
that way i maybe wouldnt have seen lanz driving into pits last race in lap +-8 (which kinda caused me into getting a bit psyched there lol, ending up in a crash)
and maybe pablinho might see us europeans driving smoother through curves then. im afraid it would crush down the framerate of the game though.

So, expect me in todays races at 20:00! Curious to see my performance today and hopefully will a great battle with someone like the one i had last weekend with szymek66. Slowly im starting to understand how to control car and approach turns. Had also some tips some days ago by....Lanz i think! Thanks mate!
Will try to find a nice gif for you as well!

Actually it wasn't so much about the looks or trying to convince anyone, I was just trying to point out the huge difference in handling between F1 cars in both games, where blue = NSGP and yellow = TS.Afinfas wrote:Yeah, i have to admit that it looks great!
Actually you dont have to try convincing me cause im already convinced! I like both games, both have great stuff. At the moment im more into TS, but i think i will never abandon NSGP! Got too much into it, helping as well in development of updates,....
Well, for now thats what i have!

Btw, last video 0:59 - 1:02, wtf man???
But, i have to say its not always like that dont worry. Mostly is when some guys have bad connections....
That point is a big thumbs up to TS for sure!

hmm, looking at the nicely "merged" piece of work, i thought about multiple things how youve made it.Tijny wrote:The real difference between TS and NSGP:
a) extract data from a video file of ngsp, putting the car layer over a ts file, a2) adding up with a speeded up 2nd layer (ts only) at the overtake part
b) making a ts car which drives similar through a curve like ngsp + a2)
c) lot of manual updating work with the car positions
d) nah..very doubtful you changed code..you more likely would have left a note this time
was it a) or something else?
I didnt knew where to put this news so i thought here would be the best place!!!
Im proud to announce that NSGP had his code released! "We" can now further develop it and make the wishes of everyone come true! Maybe solve the big Lagg problem that sends persons away or....the sliding of the cars that causes hate on the TS players!
Here you can have a look at the tread announcing it: http://www.newstargames.com/newstarforu ... post130909
Some suggestions from you guys would be more then welcome! Actually we really need them!
Thanks...
@MIKE These are the news i was saying to you! Maybe now you can give some help....well....lets speak when you come back! I hope not wasted like Johnny Deep!

There were days when people in TS didn't hate sliding. Now I'm one of the very few who think sliding is essential for racing to be fun at all. Therefore it's very sad to see a newcomer getting an image that TS isn't a game for sliding cars.Afinfas wrote:the sliding of the cars that causes hate on the TS players!
Its not offtopic actually!Jan wrote:There were days when people in TS didn't hate sliding. Now I'm one of the very few who think sliding is essential for racing to be fun at all. Now this is becoming just a boring F1 game and most of the people who like F1 games rather play other games than TS. In retro sliding there isn't many competitors and with advertising we might get people interested. Sorry for the offtopic.
I thought everyone from here didnt enjoyed sliding cars....
On NSGP cars reach max speed very quick and so you can catch up from a mistake quite quickly. I would say its more rookie friendly in some way and easier to master it!!
To be honest i see it like this:
NSGP is my wife for already 20 years, and TS was the cute younger girl that started with the hardcore flirt and you cant avoid of feeling attracted to it!
I like both games but both really need some adjustments as it was already mentioned on this thread.
I still believe that a possible merge between both would be the best solution. For what i realized both communities are supported by the core players of it but is slowly dying....loosing drivers. Imagine combining both games. We have an average of 10 players per race and TS has about 18!
Theres a sentence that describes this very well:
"If you can defeat them, join them and both will be stronger!"

But rallies, which we try to promote now are just based on sliding!Jan wrote:There were days when people in TS didn't hate sliding. I enjoy sliding cars very much, but there's a fundamental difference between TS sliding and NSGP sliding. Cars like Speeder and Slider are indeed hard to master (probably too hard in my opinion) - the default car that comes closest to the NSGP style of driving is the Spinner. And you guessed it, everyone except dede and MaunoKasa hates that one.Afinfas wrote: I thought everyone from here didnt enjoyed sliding cars....well i have to admit that what attracts me on TS is that it transmits more the feeling of F1 and if you make a mistake like going to grass, you pay a high price cause cars dont reach max speed so quickly. Also causes theres no sliding. A real F1 doesnt slide, at least not as much as on NSGP or some TS cars.
Fundamental difference between TS and NSGP is that in TS cars slide if they are supposed to slide. Well, there is one exception - the f*** TSB-F2 Brazilian crappy car. And that one is the closest to NGSP, and that's why I just can't play it. If NGSP had car like Spinner, that would be much better actually.Tijny wrote:I enjoy sliding cars very much, but there's a fundamental difference between TS sliding and NSGP sliding. AHAHAHAHA!!!!dede wrote:**started downloading NSGP**Tijny wrote:the default car that comes closest to the NSGP style of driving is the Spinner
Ok but...dont give so much importance to the offline mode. Or use it only to know the tracks!
Since the last official update from Simon (the creator), where we incorporated another type of tire (SOFT), the offline mode got unbalanced.
I mean, it would involve more tests to make it optimized. Something that we eventually will adjust it now that we have the code!
So if you feel like, show up Saturday morning (10AM Uk time) for 2 online races! Next races are Spain (Catalunya) and Portugal (Estoril). You need to download the track pack on the official thread: http://nsgp.tk/rules.php
Guys!!! You could really start thinking in some improvements for TS as well! I think they are really needed to get more players! Also the ones from NSGP!!!
Im Yeager to give ideas with pleasure...and to testing, even if im not the most suitable guy to do it cause im a rookie!

Yeah I may give it a try when I have time. They're still F1 cars, which is really a turnoff for me as they shouldn't slide. Can't know if they're good without trying though.Afinfas wrote:@JAN If you like sliding cars, why not giving it a try at NSGP official online championship? Saturdays 10AM (Uk time)

One major problem with non-sliding cars is that you can't have enjoyable battles with players without being unnecessarily careful about pushing them off the track or blocking them especially if you aren't a top player. With sliding cars accidental harsh contacts are less usual and therefore you can focus on racing and battling, not on avoiding the other car and probably giving up the battle to keep the racing fair. By the way, even spinner is more enjoyable than most of the cars used in leagues nowadays.
