Easyslider F1 Series - Monza 10.9. results
Next race is at fast Monza track. Today I made little changes to track to be as more playable (moved tires away and replaced them with hey bales little more far away from track), so all you who have downloaded track should remove previous version and download it again from here http://www.netikka.net/pekka/sliders/k-monza.rar

Race just finished and I was 8th.. kind of a disappointment, considering that in qualification I was 6th, but there were 3-4 people in a very close range so if I had been like .200 faster, I'd probably have got 3-4 starting position. Anyway, first lap was good for me, I think I was 2nd, but then, as always, stuff started to happen. I made quite a lot of mistakes, dropped down many places and then was way too inconsistent throughout the whole race. I personally was going for a 2 stop strategy, taking 70 and 70 on both pit stops. I don't know if my calculations were wrong but like 8 laps before the end of the race I realized I was low on fuel and had to take another pit stop, don't know if that cost me anything, but well..
Anyway, what I'm happy about is that I could actually participate, unlike the last GP in Istanbul Park, and also happy that I was 2nd in terms of fastest lap, only lost like 0.020 to MaunoKasa, who (what a surprise), won the race (his fastest was 22.356 I think and mine 22.376). So, bottom line, I was inconsistent, calculated pits wrong, made a lot of mistakes, got some people angry at me for not letting them pass (sorry Hengari especially!), and finally finished 8th with a very good fastest lap, I think.
One more thing though, it would've been better I presume if I had practised a little bit more just before the race, last time I was on this track was like a week ago.
Keppana, I know you're doing these races according to the official F1 schedule, but I think that perhaps after this 'cup' is over, we could have races on all F1 tracks, and more often (like 2 days in between), cause I really like this cup!

Nice comments Etmil.. actually being costant (not fast, only costant) is pretty much important for this cup, since almost noone is practising and knowing a good strategy (correct me if I am wrong, this is the 1st time I join this cup). But how to be costant? Eheh, it's harder than being fast: once you are fast you tend to drive too close to corners and then to crash or make mistakes. You have to find out what is the best type of driving that allow you to be fast enough and not to crash
Here is todays race results and points stantings. At from very first lap MaunoKasa disappeared from other drivers and took easy like win. Battle from behind him was tighter. Last race winner benzin didn't finish on this time, but happily Janne finish on this time for podiums. Seems like championship is going to MaunoKasa, he have 12 points gap to Janne, but everything can happend as we have seen.

Exactly. I think "being fast" is too often understood as "being temporarily fast", that is, max. speed is on a high level but consistency lacks. One should think "speed" only in the viewpoint of the total race time. Singular peaks are of secondary importance.dede wrote:actually being costant (not fast, only costant) is pretty much important for this cup
I would like to provide a rough example of 50 laps where there is a "fast" driver (Driver A) who can drive the track in 22.4 seconds whereas the other one (Driver B) can reach only 22.6 seconds. However, Driver A makes two mistakes in 10 laps; one minor and one major. Driver B can keep his level all the way from the beginning without making mistakes. Of course, this is a simplified example, and in reality both drivers' results would vary more. But in many cups we have players of both categories. Almost always is Driver A considered as "faster" than Driver B - without any arguments, really.

Really 150 laps?Razzle wrote:The circuit was superb, I think, and it was kind of shame how the race consisted of only 53 laps. I would've liked to have something like 150 laps.
I don't know what kind of insults you mean but there is a great difference between overtaking a driver with normal racing activity or getting stuck (blocked) with the overtaking and losing couple of places also.Razzle wrote:The only letdown to me was how some people took the competition a bit too serious and were insulted of some normal racing activity, like troubles to overtake slower drivers and so on. Antti should make new pro rule, /pro <number>. If it has been set to /pro 5, player is eliminated if he is 5 laps behind lapping driver and touch it. This make getting rid of slowest and unskilled players during the race. But there is problem if your network gets lagged or disconnect, you may find yourself quickly laps behind other players and only way to survive then is giving road for others.
Actually I didn't take the race so seriously, infact I played like an ass for half race blocking and bumping HengariRazzle wrote:Maunokasa and Dede made really nice efforts.
