New cup sistem
Hello everyone...
A dude asked me if is possible to organise this tipe of cup:
Autoserver up in the weekend and a track avaible for training,
Everyone has to do 1 SINGLE attemp in my server.
Problems will be these:
- People will surely do more than 1 attemp
- I have to look logs manually? (i dont want to spend hours for it)
- There is a way to ban people after their 1st attemp?

Depending on the autoserver (TS version 1.08W running at his own PC?) you could write a script, which would run parallel to the autoserver.
Script short explained (for a more dynamic system, in the case that 2-x attempts are allowed):
- Scanning logfile (IPs and their nicks, in best case detecting/allowing >=2 players with 1 IP...when they drive at the same time - with >=2 attempts though they probably have to driver the other attempts together too to avoid 1 driver faking the other driver etc.)
- Adding IPs into an array/database, including their race result
- Sorting result into result database, giving a message with statistics about ranking, if wanted by the cup organizer
- After cuprestart or raceend: check if it was the drivers last attempt: if yes, the bancommand with the right parameters will be executed (how to execute a command via script is something special i skip to explain here)
Contact me in the next days via pm in the case you are interested about other details - all i can say now: i am able to write such a tool relative fast, but the bigger problem will be to get my old development environment back (problem i have since a longer while allready).

I like that new system very much!

Anyway,here is my suggestions:

-would be nice to see brand new/clear tracks from trackmakers,before they post track in this forum.

However, I don't see the point of this cup: people will have the possibility to wank locally, so it won't be fair at all (it will be like the current DIT competition: someone will do 50 laps/car and someone 1 billion per car). If the goal of this competition is to establish the best players for each car, then let's have a competition like the old ones in SIT's (15/30 laps per car, all in one night and online, in a brand new track).

Well I agree with mikko. With 1 single attempt and 1 single lap everything is linked to luck: lag/warps/get stucked getting 1 corner too tight... In order to make a good lap you need to drive as close as possible -> means crash. This will probably kill the semi-fast guys who will try to win (not the top players/Tijny). Result? Winner: Tijny or some lucky arse.
If you want to proove who is the best, then just organise a new cup like old ones, with a brand new track.

I like the idea. I never liked the DIT because it reguires a lot of time to achieve good results. With this system, one lap doesn't take much time, and pressure is big( which is good). I want to see this happen. Of course only one tournament like this doesn't tell much about who is best and who's not, but is that really important? I play to have fun, not to beat others. Many cups like this maybe reveals something about skills of players in one lap, if the points of individual cups is summed. Therefore this should be many race-tournament.
How to prevent cheating? when a player comes to server and makes his first try, then he downloads the track. afterwards he can send the track to a friend who can then wanks offline before making his first and only attemp. So... for this system to be realised, we would need Ande to make miracles. (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm drunk now so i migth speak stupid)

First there will be autoserver. In autoserver everyone can race as much as they want. no results will be gathered. Idea of this is only that people will get familiar with the track, and that people can have fun in server. ghost could be off, so people could race on the server, because one lap isnt so important.
Then there will be race-server, where everyone can make one attemp, which will determine the winner... and loser... and everyone between.
With this system everyone has a change to get to know the track, but the number of laps isnt so importants as its is in DIT. or something...

anyway this cup is the opposite of DIT.
you can wank 3000 hours, but then you have to make a time in 1 SINGOL ATTEMP!!!!
it isn t hard ....you have to show all your ability in 1 lap
it is quite fair for all, sure everyone can win without wanking all days

Yes, this cup would be the opposite of DIT, also in the way that skills has only very little to do with the standings. The keyword here is "luck". But on a second note, I do not see anything bad in that, on the contrary, this gives a chance for anyone to win. Might be interesting to determine who is the luckiest driver of TS.

Yes, exactly. As a tournament this would make much more sense. Whereas luck would dominate in a single cup, skills and tactics would have a significant role in a tournament. One could play safe, avoiding crashes, to gather points from each cup. This would unlikely yield top positions from individual cups (unless you are Tijny) but might be the best tactics for winning the tournament. I can't see any problem here (or perhaps I just don't understand it). One could be allowed to make many attempts but only the first attempt counts.
