Weekly Wank Tournament

Hi Guys,

I wanna give you a new reason to come on servers(especially on mine ;))
I'll do a fastest lap wanking contest every week from now on.
It will always be from Monday 0:00 to Sunday 23.59 CET.
Always one car and one track for one week.
There will be somehow two competitions.
1: Fastest Lap Competition
2: Most Laps Competition

Wanking is only possible on the Weekly Wank Autoserver by benzinfurz,
which has following settings:
laps:10
ghost:on
fuel:off
damage:off

The server will always be up from 20 CET till 24 CET and hopefully lagfree
It is also possible to find the server on other daytimes, when i have time to set it up

The Actual Top10 of both competitions will be updated every day!
The winners of the competitions can be found on my new homepage! -> See Signature

The first Tournament will start Monday, November 13th!

Nice, another tournament for those who like wanking and have difficulties in driving at predetermined dates/times (I fit in both categories). What’s more, this is a realization of the car/track of the week idea suggested for turbosliders.com. I might attend this one.

The most laps competition sounds quite strange for me too, but on second thought, reward from active participation makes sense. Building on that, perhaps you should consider making just one competition instead of the separate fastest lap and most laps competitions so that both contribute to the overall standings. In that way, winning the competition would likely require both a fast lap and driving many laps. This, in turn, would probably increase the quality of competition as doing many laps improves the changes of getting a fast lap.

Exactly, the ones that drive very often should be rewarded too and not only those which are the fastest
Of course i myself will go more for fastest lap as for most laps, too but trying very often must be rewarded ...
I have also thought about putting both tournament into one but i havent thought enough about the system they should count , because i think both competitions : 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 points would be unequal... and boring ;)

How about giving points from the fastest lap something like 20 18 16 ... and half of those for the most laps: 10 9 8 ... This example would make a maximum of 30 points, which would be obtained by a driver making the fastest lap, simultaneously driving more laps than anyone else.

i thought about a system like :

The one with the record (fastest lap) gets 1000 points and all behind gets (1000 - difference to leader) points
Example: Mikko - 23.455 - 1000 points
Tijny - 23.655 - 800 points
Ippon-benzin - 24.064 - 391 points

The laps will simply be added:
Example: Mikko - 1000 points - 340 laps - 1340 points
Tijny - 800 points - 560 laps - 1360 points
Ippon-benzin - 391 points - 1000 laps - 1391 points

WOOO! i won :)
So everybody would get points and not only best 10

OK, that sounds good, unless someone goes crazy and drives thousands of laps, in which case the fast lap becomes irrelevant. But that could be overcome by limiting the points collectable from driven laps to, let's say, 1000 or so.

In my opinion it would be best to do most laps ranking other way. So fewer laps would be better. So your skills would be mean more. Now you dont have to drive fast lap, only many of them. But good about this is that players really drive in server.

anyway i will only fight for best lap competition....i really don t care who has more free time :wink:

That would just decrease the level if people stop trying after ok lap. I think those should be separated from each other though I don't really know who would try to win the most laps competition.

Well i guess i'll do it as follows:

i'll take the point system as above explained for fastest lap and add up to 500 lap points so every lap more than 500 will be worthless
so there will be a winner in :

Fastest Lap Competition
Most Laps Competition
Combined Competition

So if u waza/mouse/janne and other go for fast lap then go for it :)

Benzin, I really like your idea. So your saying, the winner of best lap gets 1000 points and every second off leader is deducted from 1000?

This would have the drawback of people training the track offline instead of doing the training at the server.

Not in a way that if one makes a lot of training offline, that would improve the chances to get a fast lap at the server with fewer trials.

If the server is fast to restart and has a good amount of laps (10-15), I wouldn't risk to get a super lucky laptime offline.. Yes, maybe few laps (50) in a row offline, in order to get used to the track (if it's hard), but after that only online wanking. Of course, this is only my opinion :).

Let’s seriously consider these three suggested scenarios:

1. Driver is punished for driving many laps
2. The number of driven laps does not count
3. Driver is rewarded for driving many laps

1. I would say, the best tactics were to first drive a lot offline to get a good touch to the track, and immediately after that to make a serious trial at the server making only a few laps. Not much fun and quite unlikely what benzinfurz would like to see after setting up the server. Or what do you guys think?

2. Many would probably first train a little offline, and after that shift to the server. Some would do many laps and the fastest guys possibly only a few.

3. Everyone would drive only at the server, since driving offline would be a wasted chance. This is, of course, if the only competition would be the combined fastest + most laps. If there were three separate competitions, who would care about the most laps competition? If and when everyone only cares about the fastest lap competition, there would be no actual reward from driving many laps. Another thing, which I mentioned previously, is that if the number of laps counts in the competition, that would also increase the quality of competition.

As a consequence, I would go either for the fastest lap only competition or for the combined fastest lap + most laps competition. But I’m afraid that some top drivers might lose their interest if the number of laps counts, and therefore the fastest lap only competition might be the best solution. Alternatively, the reward given from many laps could be much smaller, lets say a maximum of 1000 points from the fastest lap and a maximum of 200 points from the many laps.

Another suggestion:

First of all: laps on the server depend on the tracklength

For example:
Track length (sec) / Laps on the server:
00-10 / 50
10-15 / 40
15-20 / 30
20-25 / 25
25-30 / 20
30-35 / 15
35-xx / 10

Or just: long track 10 laps, short track 50, average 20 / middle long 25 laps

Main thing:

- You can enter the server so often you want (though you can limit it or set up a special rule, if the server is full and drivers waiting outside with less tries than some drivers in the server)

- Your actual laptime-points are calculated by a mix of your laptime and the cup nr., you got that laptime.

Example: a driver with 33.000 in cup 1 might be better than a driver with 32.900 in cup nr. 10

Advantage: against local practice advantage after downloading the track at cupstart

Disadvantage: a player can join the cup very late and get a disadvantage or a player is doing a longer pause, before trying a 2nd time...<- acceptable disadvantages though


Example:
average long track (20 sec) - 20 laps
cup nr. 01: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.060 sec
cup nr. 02: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.040 sec
cup nr. 03: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.025 sec
cup nr. 04: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.015 sec
cup nr. 05: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.010 sec
cup nr. 06: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.007 sec
cup nr. 07: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.005 sec
cup nr. 08: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.003 sec
cup nr. 09: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.002 sec
cup nr. 10: every laptime will get a bonus of 0.001 sec

of course the exponential function can look otherwise...
but theoretically this could support that driving a fast lap in the first attempts is honored...

Example: DIT track AntiSlider: Janne 2nd attempt of 20 laps -> 21.320 -> laptime-ranking: 21.280

Server: too laggy

27.3 would have been a realistic laptime to reach in my 5th try with a few lagless laps. Unfortunately with Prazene on the server now every lap was a lap with at least 1 big lag -> car driving into the deep sand^^. Maybe you was playing or made something in the meanwhile, no idea. Prazene had the problems too.

Track: not my taste, too strange - no good enjoy

Prazene liked it, dede maybe not and me neither..
Strange was, that you have to hit the right parts of the sands in a fullspeed slide to slow down in a good way to enter next turn good etc. etc.
Sometimes relative tight to the fences sometimes.
Maybe i just did not try often enough...
