TurboSliders Awards 2006

Hello there,

a TS year just ended and a new one is started too. TurboSlidersBrasil gave me the idea of assigning Awards to the best TS players, about the same of Oscars for cinema or Golden Ball for football. I know it's hard to judge who was the best player of the past year, so I decided to assign one prize for each category. Most of these prizes will be assigned basing on race logs of the most important TS cups, and some will need a commission of TS players.
The first step will be assigning Awards to TS players for racing skills, but in next months we will assign Awards for PunaBall, xBumpz, TrackMakers, Tracks and other.
Each Award/Nomination will result in TS.com Players' profiles.

As I said, these Awards are assigned basing on cups' results, race logs, and other things I will specify later. This means that online activity counts a lot: players with big skills and with unconstant online activity won't be prized. Another important issue is "lag": race results of some player are conditioned by lag. These Awards won't consider it: we can't say how much lag slows down and we can't change race results calculating a damage caused by lag.

Calculating Nominations and Awards' winners will take a while, but you can start discussing about your favourite drivers for each category

Another idea: Each of us can try to vote for top 5-10 players in ALL aspects/categories of 2004-2007 period.In case we want to make clear these things.
Just one question: are we Really need this and Where we can use it?
At least , the history and beautiful blog ( http://tsranking.blogspot.com. ) from Z will be better and more interesting.

As I said, it's just a feature for players profiles. A feature for TS.com. About the voting system, I will consider to add it after TS.com will be published.
The idea of Awards comes in order to involve more players playing the game in 2007, so they will challenge the current top players in each category.

Don't expect to see results here in next days: I spent 1 hour calculating the first criteria of "EasySlider Fastest Player"...


About those categories suggested by Captain K, community could decide who to assign those awards regarding "beefs". About the one regarding "wankers", it is already on my list (Fastest XXXX Player..).

There wouldn't be that many at the brasilian side on 2006.
But on the european side we would have for example (i skip to mention all nominateable ones):

Yesterday I've been calculating points for this award:

Fastest EasySlider Player 2006

Here there are some specifications:

• Fastest EasySlider Player 2006:
This award is assigned to the fastest EasySlider player, the one who is able to push his EasySlider to its limits.
Criteria: fastest lap counts, independently from the number of laps driven. Number of laps driven doesn’t affect the vote.
Considered Competitions: Dark Ippon Tournament (40 pts), Official TS Ranking (11 pts), Weekly Wank Tournament (12 pts), Swoot Challenge 1 - Qualifications (12 pts), Time Trial Cups {OIC15, SIT10, DIT8 Time Trial Cup} (20 pts).

First results weren't that reliable (max points = 100):

So I decided to try merging these results with real players skills, according to me (50% results + 50% skills). This is the result:

Results seem now more reliable, but it's definitively too hard calculating every single criteria for each award (e.g. this award took 3 hours.. and it had pretty few criteria).

For this reason I think a commission will choose best players for each category: I would need one month calculating each criteria. Too much. Which players for the commission? I was thinking of good players, who can be fair voting best players (e.g. not basing on friendship), who was active enough in 2006 to know what he's voting about. I have 5-6 names in my mind, please suggest yours.

It shouldn't be according to JUST YOU! I think that we should vote! There should be a nominations thread and people will nominate one person for each award then the top 4 from each award section will be the people you vote for! Example:

Dede you can nominate the best that you think with 3 of your friends that you trust the most. You decide together which 4 people should be picked(you may choose yourself if you have an explanation on WHY) then TS Players whould vote in a Poll Thread!

Note: those calculations were only a test. I tried three different combinations in order to see what was the result.

Anyway, I think I would be the best one who could assign these awards in the case I wouldn't be competing for them: I've been playing constantly for the whole 2006 year, I joined 90% of online cups, I know everything of everyone. Well, in the game I could say "Jarno, you suck! I'm so much faster with you with every car!", but I won't ever say this when we are talking of serious things, like these awards are supposed to be. Letting all players voting would be an error: who has more friends wins. I don't want that. For this reason there are two ways to calculate the winner for each category:

- cups results
- little commission composed by top active players

The first one would prize who played most cups with the best result. Pretty fair for some category, but definitively too hard to calculate (as I specified before, it took 3 hours just for one category).
The second one will be probably used.


About the sentence where you say "I just don't think its fair that you are picking everybody and other people don't even have a chance!", it's pretty clear that only a couple of players will have a chance to win those awards. Names are pretty well known, and they are those one who were @ top in those calculations I posted before.

It's well known fact that there are just few drivers who are suitable for the awards considering the cup and wanking results. Those results are available around the net for everyone to see and calculate for himself.

What Dede suggested for that one rank it is quite alright and about correct. It's calculated from results and it isn't that Dede has just made that list from nothing (like Z did he's list ). Of course it is difficult to rank players and when some drivers don't drive so often against each others.

How more fair can you be for drivers if that list is calculated from actual results?

Of course, I would like to know your opinion about these awards: who deserves to win each category, in your opinion?
A discussion is welcome, but I won't sum all votes in order to obtain the real winner. The real winner will be selected by the commission of expert and fair players, and not basing only on personal preferences.

Anyway, as I said earlier, commission will consider to remove these awards.
