Slider Relay Team League

Post by Jarno » Wed Jan 23, 2008 11:36 am

Hi everyone.

There is going to be totally new tournament. Slider-relay-team-competition. What is this? Its basically just relay with slider. 3teams with 2players each drives around tracks and having fun, that's the whole idea.
Still dont know what i mean? Dont worry! here are some examples how this works:
http://batman.jypoly.fi/~c2214/Slider-R ... etwist.tsr
http://batman.jypoly.fi/~c2214/Slider-R ... iptico.tsr
http://batman.jypoly.fi/~c2214/Slider-R ... nwoken.tsr

Now that we know how it works we need to have rules and players.

Rules:
- Change happens only with push
- First team member in grid starts first while other stay to wait his turn
- Waiting team member must wait his turn behind start line
- Who is first in grid from those who dont race first lap choose change position first
- Waiting car cant be too far back, so stay in close to start line
- When change has happened waiting car have to cross finish line (because if he dont last lap is screwed)
- When drived all your laps, finish and wait there
- Points 0 0 0 3 2 1 (Last drivers define team results)
- Laps 3 -> 6laps per team
- Tracks -> 5 per leg
- Random starting order

What happens if something is going wrong?
- Backwards driving -> 0points and kick from cup
- Change isnt happening -> -1 point
- Driver concentrate only for pushing others -> -1, -2 or -3 points
- Ruining others teams change -> -1 point

Then only thing we need is players. There can be teams with 2 or 3 members, because only two drivers at once one have to be backup member. Each team have to sign up. Teams dont have to be normal/original ts teams.

Teams get "slider- ranking" by they skills and will be arranged to groups byt that. Each group got 3 teams and groups we have so many that we have players. If you dont know any team but like to join, sign in and you will be ger random guy with you if there is others like that.

Each group has 3legs. Every team can pick one track set they like.

Group1:
[NoLo] - MaunoKasa, Etana, Xzeal
Flippon - Dede, Olio, Limp-pu
The koDu - The Dude, kovalainen

Group2:
TiJaI - Tijny, Janne, Ivan_Drago
[TL] - Hengari, Dragonstar
JaLa - Jan, Lamppu

1. Do you need to let another player pass in case of crash? If yes, what happens if you don't do that?
2. What happens if you miss your mate? You lost? And if you push a different player?
3. Positions on changes are established before or you can pick the one you prefer?

I'd love to join this cup, but I don't have a teammate yet.

In my opinion it would be nice if this was fully rough, since that would add lots of extra excitement. Also, gentleman rules with Slider simply don't work because of the high probability to get stuck after crashing into someone. Of course it should only be allowed to hit your direct opponents, though.

1. No, but you can if you want

2. - Change isnt happening -> -1 point, - Ruining others teams change -> -1 point (So if you drive pass your mate and he's going on without contact to you its -1 point)

3. You pick which you prefer

What if some other prefers the same place? May you fight for best spots? :lol:

I would join as well if I had teammate.

Jarno didn't remember to mention, that we thought a solution, where the spots can be selected by the order which the drivers are placed into the start grid. 1st in the grid (after your teammate has left) gets to select the spot 1st and the 2nd after that.

Well you can but position isnt so relevant. And if you're fighting still when change is happening you ruin others change -> -1 point

Wouldn't it be easier just to establish the positions before? So you would know where you will find your team mate. For example: team A stays in the middle, B on the left, C on the right. Right/Left would be based on starting direction, like this:

===
B ->
A ->
C ->
===

===
<- C
<- A
<- B
===

|| ^ ^ ^ ||
|| B A C ||

|| C A B ||
|| v v v ||

This seems very interesting. I'd like to join too, though I don't have a teammate.

Yeah, this sounds interesting. But I think too, that some sort of simple rule for the waiting positions would be good. Dunno what that simple rule would be though..

sign me up & No team. hmm i think that in this kind of relay the middle starting position is of highest value & possibly fixed starting positions could be enforced after 1st race? or just have total randomness you've got to love the random factoR

It depends of the track which position is the "best". With selecting certain types of tracks (long straights before/after startline) it is possible to make the starting position insignificant. Just that those types of tracks are kinda rare (good slidering tracks with long starting lines).

Would it be too much work, if couple new tracks would be created with good slidering + long straight support?

Added couple more rules just in case.

So now on you dont have to fight for place in change positions.

A1-----
-----B2
C2-----
-----D1
E3-----
-----F3

A1, B2, E3 Start first lap as others get to their change positions. C2 can choose his position firsts and then D1 and F3.

Simple enough.

From the ruins of TL, two proud soldiers of slider battalion emerge to answer the call of battle. Hengari and Dragonstar are ready for the challenge.

hoi!

Great to have a slidercup of somekind. That's what this game is missing.

I sign up for random-team-formation. I hope to be in a team of 3 players, since i will be busy and can't attend races too easily.
