IP addresses of forum posters

Post by fasteddie399 » Sat Jun 04, 2005 4:32 pm

Hey, anyone know how I can get a user's IP address from a post they make on these forums? Just wondering...

Just wondering... what would you do with that information?

The reason I'm asking is because it would be a good way to help figure out who is using "fake names" in Turbo Sliders, by comparing their IP from within the game to their IP when posting... that's all. :)

Administrators and moderators have got the permission to view the IP.
But since i am "only" a moderator i am actually using this feature just to moderate this forum and not to find out doublenicks in Turbo Sliders or any other things. So far, at least.

Yeah, we do know the ip addresses of all posters but there are no plans to publish such information as of now. Besides for the most people the ip address is not static and thus not a reliable way of identication. If there's any very abusive posting we can use the information to contact the service provider but none of that has happened so far.
