Hey Turbo Sliders, it's Burnout once again!



SCARTS is entering its 11th season and as always I'm welcoming all of you to join us, beginning the first week of March. Races are usually hosted on Wednesdays, so our first race will kick off on March 8th for the newly renamed - SCARTS Turbocharged Cup Series!

We used to host on Sundays in years past, but due to the F1 World Championships, I moved our series to run midweeks since the launch of that series in which many of you compete in.

During our offseason, we ran a truck series cup in which Burnout outraced Dore in the series finale and claimed his second truck championship.

Dore is our 2016 Cup champion, looking to go for his third straight title in 2017. Registrations are now up for 2017 - I encourage you all to join us and experience some great stock car racing action. I have been pleased with the cult following SCARTS has had over the years but I am always inviting to the rest of the community to have some fun with us! SCARTS is a passion of mine and I love to share this racing series to the rest of the Turbo Sliders community, so check us out!

Racing will start with the SCARTS Shootout, a qualifying race to set the field for our annual SCARTS Daytona 500. The qual race will be 60 laps and the 500 will likely run the week after. Daytona is a drafting track - so the racing field will all be in one big chunk of cars making continuous passes. The key to winning this is finding a friend to draft with that will help you keep in track position in the draft and then timing your move to win the race.

Another SCARTS Shootout is in the books and Dore goes two straight winning a thriller at Daytona. He joins polesitter Delux on the front row for the Daytona 500 on March 15th. The rest of the finishing order sets the grid for next Wednesday plus Jordan's qualifying run guarantees him an 11th place start (even though he didn't race the Shootout) should more players join us then. The others will lineup based on practice session speeds behind Jordan. Jordan left prior to pitstall selections so he will choose first before the new players.

Bonus points were scored for the Top 5 - 10 points for Dore, 6 for Burnout, 4 for JonnO, 2 for Szymek and 1 for Charter. Those points will be added into the points scored in the Daytona 500.

The Daytona 500 will be 125 laps (500 km) and given the action we've seen from the Shootout, this should be a barnburner. A practice session will precede the race, likely a 25 lap run and then we will jump straight to the race since the grid is already set.

As a reminder, this is the first Cup season using the new points structure in which we used during the Racin' Edge Truck Series: the winner scores 30 points, 2nd - 25, 3rd - 22, 4th - 19, 5th - 17, 6th - 15, down to 20th - 1. Top 5 runs are favorable now and have more weight than finishes 6th and lower. We saw this new structure come to life with Burnout being able to catch Dore for the truck title having large point gains to eat into Dore's lead much quicker.

However during the truck series, we upped the bonus points for leading 10% to +2 points and +4 for leading the most laps. That change was due to the higher point totals being possible now but it led to four impossible point values. We are changing that to +1 bonuses for EVERY 10% of the race led so 10% has a little less weight but you can score up to a +5 for leading half of the race distance. This opens up all point values and variable points earned per race. As a result, no more most lap led bonus - so its worth it to race hard to hit that next 10% led bracket even if you know you can't lead the most laps. This should create some good racing all race long!

Thursday, May 25th, SCARTS is back with Race #7 of the Turbocharged Cup Series @ Talladega Superspeedway. The season so far has seen three victories for Burnout, two for Dore, and one victory for Charter in the season opening Daytona 500. My availability had been sketchy lately, so we've had a couple of weeks off - but are back in the swing of things this week!

Talladega is a drafting racetrack like Daytona - where the key is to remain in contention in the drafting pack to have a shot at victory. Past champion JonnO won last years first Talladega race, and Laf won the second race. This track has been known to produce a different winner lately, so anyone has a shot!

Hey all.

SCARTS had a couple of months off due to being preoccupied with things and the plain fact that few people were able to play during August-September. However, we are NOT dead and are planning Race #13 of the Turbocharged Cup Series for tonight at Daytona Int'l Speedway. Burnout leads the point standings over Dore with four races left in the regular season to claim a bonus heading into the eight race playoffs. Burnout, Dore, Delux and Charter have all won races during the first 12, but Charter has been eliminated from the playoffs due to low attendance. Drivers like Szymek, Laf and Simms are still seeking their first win of the season, and Daytona is a great shot for those guys to secure their playoff hopes being a draft track as there are only two points paying spots open. That shrinks to one if somebody new does win. The playoffs are a minimum of five players.

The race will be at 21 GMT tonight, September 28th.

Tracks like Daytona and Talladega are so much fun with a large field of cars, so we have been delaying this race due to the busy lives of our core fan base so that we can have the Daytona race we are known for in SCARTS. Pack racing rules! Come join us tonight!
