TS centralised website (turbosliders.com)
I know that TurboSliders needs an official website (and also a lot of features inside it -> community-teams' section-etc..). I also know that it'll be hard that JGG makes what we need, and Ande either.
So I am thinking that some player/ts fan/programmer could start working on it.
Do you think that the person that leads the project is important in order to make this succesful, or you don't care about that? Please comment&vote.
BTW: I have no idea if this will be ever realised. Now I want to read your opinion only.

The people who makes a central site for TS needs support from the community to make it work and also enough skills to provide content to the site.
Fasteddies ts-central is good try but it still needs something more. The site looks a bit confusing and that kind of content management system which is in ts-central and was on tscups is not going to work. It's too complicated to use and manage. And those chatboxes...
The most important thing is not to divide things to different forums but keep the main things in one place to be easily found. As it has been said many times before: TS need an advertising site for the game and things what to do in the game (tutorials, tracks, cup-information and results). It just isn't so easy to do and needs bunch of good guys to do it and manage it.
(I voted for "Yes, it's important. If he is hated by a lot of players, the website could not be used by some of them.")

Are we just speaking theoretically here or has someone been given the permission/order to do so. (when we are dealing with turbosldiers.com then i assume someone has). Who actually does the webpage is not important, who maintains it, is.
If some of those people don't visit the site just because fo the author (which is quite absurd) then who cares, is it not ment more for potential newcomers then the "seasoned veterans" as Ande called us? Besides if it does have the "official" tag on it and gets updated from time to time it will make every active player visit it.
A new demo version and a new site launched at the same time could very possibly lead to next age of TS (i'd call it the 4.th age, uuh thats good i got to write some history on tsnews.pri.ee). A fancy page for TS is exactly what we need. And i mean fancy not like my HTML screw up the official site is more for promoting TS and if it has useful info for old-timers too then all the better.

No, no, sorry for the misunderstanding. We are speaking theoretically.xzeal wrote:Are we just speaking theoretically here or has someone been given the permission/order to do so. I don't think anyone will ever get order to do something like this. I can imagine that permission for this would be easy to get for well known player(s).xzeal wrote:Are we just speaking theoretically here or has someone been given the permission/order to do so.
I just hope people would understand this.Who actually does the webpage is not important, who maintains it, is.
I totally agree. I believe that "official" is the magic word here.Besides if it does have the "official" tag on it and gets updated from time to time it will make every active player visit it.
I participated in an online meeting with various people from this forum couple months ago (or more) regarding building a new TS site. There was a lot of enthusiasm and people volunteered to do something for it, while Jollygood would mainly provide the hosting and any art or small programming support required (note that we can't do the whole project in-house... think of the cost of putting a programmer full time working on a rather large website for a month, with some art support... it's just not commercially viable in any way - it has to be volunteer effort). After that meeting, it seems nothing has happened... so I guess it's very important someone with enough persistence would take a lead on such project, to make sure it gets done.
It could be nice to hear what was volunteered to be done by whom and how.creator wrote:There was a lot of enthusiasm and people volunteered to do something for it.
I talked about dede today about this topic and as you said it needs a kind of leader to guide the work and right people to keep the site updated and make content.
Maybe some TO-DO list could be done what kind of features should be implemented and so on and put some names on the list to do something. Things should be discussed in the open. In this forum there are lots of ideas and potential but it just needs to be guided.

Let me know names of those players, if possible. Also via mail or pvt msg if you want. Thank you.creator wrote:I participated in an online meeting with various people from this forum couple months ago (or more) regarding building a new TS site. I don't want to judge if the webmaster did a good work or not, I just say that every TS website needs a small/big work and has the goal of helping the game. So I appreciate every attempt to help the game. But you must admit that ts-central.com isn't the official website we need for TS.mouse wrote:So TS-Central is out the window? Im sorry to bring this up again but it would be nice to work of that. A lot of work went into that site to just ditch it like this. It has not been updated in a few weeks, but Fasteddie has been very busy and unable to do anything right now.
But you are not telling me what we need. All you have said is an official webpage. If all we need is the word Official slapped on there with a ts.com addres we will be set? There are ways to work on ts-central to make it the site we all want. I have not seen any details about the master webpage, other than it saying it is official.

My previous reply wasn't complete (I was writing something I don't remember now, but I had to go out, so I posted it as was. Sorry for that). However, you'll read soon what TS community needs.mouse wrote:But you are not telling me what we need. All you have said is an official webpage. After that you can tell me if you are going to realise that in ts-central (and how long will it take). No problems if you implement features required by TS community. I don't have anything against you and fasteddie. I think the idea was great.
Everyone has some opions what should be made about TS-site but nobody says anything. It's not so easy to write down what you have on mind.mouse wrote:So TS-Central is out the window? The idea and content behind TS-Central is excellent but the site overall is not. TS-Central is nice work but the layout and content management with that e107 just isn't good. It is not really flexible for proper use. When TS-Central was published I thought "not again another TS-site" because I was hoping for something bigger and more "centralized" kind of site which would use this forum and so on.
I know what kind of site I would like to see and it isn't like some e107 with all those chatboxes and complicated navigation.

Thanks for commenting and voting. Now it's time to understand who do you want as leader. Check the other topic.

im not sure i remember what jobs were volunteered for.. But i attended the meeting, as did creator, fasteddie, and either dede or mouse (sorry, cant remember which of you it was)...Hengari wrote:It could be nice to hear what was volunteered to be done by whom and how.creator wrote:There was a lot of enthusiasm and people volunteered to do something for it.

But regardless.. The plan was to make a TS HQ and basically i was supposed to help out and fasteddie and mouse kinda went ahead without me and did the tscentral.net website...
I was talked to dede about this and i have been putting most of my effort into it, i know he informed me he was going to contact several people personally via email or IM's. Not sure if he has gone ahead and done that or not, but i know dede had a team in mind.. not sure how that's coming along :/
he had wanted creator to be leader of the project and i flat out said that wouldn't be an option. All of JGG employees have their jobs and really can't be asked to add this to the "To Do List".
