Dark Ippon Tournament 3 - Signup & Infos

Post by dede » Tue Jul 04, 2006 11:11 am

Informations

DIT is a "dark" competition: you won't know your position until the end of the challenge. So, don't post your times and final result in the forum, just send a single (1) e-mail including your recordings (you have an example below, at the end of this thread) to me, wazaari / wazaari@hotmail.it , after you feel you've finished, but naturally before the deadline.

Drive 1 lap in JimMiE22o2's newest track "snigggaB odorF" with each default car (easyslider slider spinner antislider speeder)
Track can be downloaded here: -LINK-

This challange will be open the whole month of July, then it will end July the 31th 2006 @ 23:59 CET.

You must post a message here to enter the challenge.

Deadline: July 31th 23:59 CET
Send me a mail with all videos (no last second - whole lap!) and times. The message should be something like this:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ts Nick: <Your nick used in TS>

Easyslider time: <your personal best>
Antislider time: <your personal best>
Slider time: <your personal best>
Spinner time: <your personal best>
Speeder time: <your personal best>

Overall: <[LT1]+[LT2]+[LT3]+[LT4]+[LT5]+>

Ok guys, there is a news! I decided to open a dedicated autoserver for this event, so everyone can WANK ONLINE! If you wank in the official server (Dark Ippon Tournament 3), then you don't need to send your videos and to signup for the competition: you will be automatically included in final rankings. I think this is a good way to have MORE players in final rankings and it's a way to have 1 more server with players in it (tonight 9 players)! There are 2 bad things: a bit of lag & you will know the records of the track (it's not completely dark anymore).

Very nice idea, dede. Its major drawback, however, is that after having wanked offline and though of having got a fast lap it's quite disappointing to see tijny's time.

It is more disappointing thinking what times would he have got offline

I have another news: we decided to publish the autoserver's ranking on 15th July, no times, only positions. In this way everyone can see his rank and can decide to do better with certain cars instead of others.

I've a bad news too: from 15th July the autoserver will be down (I go on holiday).

These are the partial results of the DIT3 AutoServer. The AutoServer will be up for this week only, I think, so if you want to improve your times after that you'll need to send videos to wazaari@hotmail.it before the ending of the tournament. Thanks everyone for joining and have fun!

OK for me at least and I'm happy too since this gives some more motivation. But why head for 2nd place? Is there something wrong with the 1st? :D

Actually Tijny did good times that can be hardly beaten by other players here. The only ones that could be able to beat him can be Matti, Mike Nike and maybe Daft. But the first one isn't playing seriously in this competition, Daft quit TS and Nike isn't playing so much. So I think that it's pretty hard beating him, also if I think that this time ranking will be much more closer than other times  .

By the way, remember that AutoServer results are just a part of the whole results, because you have to consider that someone played offline. So if you are 2nd in these rankings, you could get the 5th-6th place in final ranking. So, do your best!

Well, Tijny's times are definitely fast but not unbeatable by any means. I decided to give one record (don't reveal which one) a very serious offline-challenge and managed to break it with a quite nice margin. :o
But, of course, we do not know how fast he has driven (or will drive) offline. Never give up hope though. Sooner or later someone will beat him. Won't be me for sometime at least because I have a speeder-problem. :(

Nice, good job!
But, of course, we do not know how fast he has driven (or will drive) offline.
Only with Speeder I got a faster time locally, but I don't plan on driving any more laps. And I seriously doubt I will send that time, since I believe my online lap is good enough. And besides, I'm just too damn lazy.
Never give up hope though. Sooner or later someone will beat him.
I hope so! :P
You know, sometimes I'm getting a little tired of winning, and it would be nice if someone else took home the gold this time.
Won't be me for sometime at least because I have a speeder-problem. :(
Hmm, maybe it's time to write a good Speeder-manual then. :)

Indeed, that would be very useful for many drivers, I think. It's also on on the wish-list of turbosliders.com

In addition to not knowing the fastest driving lines of speeder, I have an annoying problem of keyboard getting stuck during heavy braking. The problem is relevant for all cars but is the most severe with speeder for which the brake is the most important (isn't it?). It got slightly better when I modified the keyboard settings in control panel, but it's still here as a pain in my arse. No such problem with my laptop but I find its keyboard much worse otherwise, not suitable for accurate driving.

mikko, I am just guessing, but me thinking you took the slidz0r time, :D anyway, nice job on the record. And Tijny still faster time with speeder, oh geezus.. :)

In my opinion is spinner's rec.

It's one of the three (not speeder, not anti which wasn't Tijny's rec). You have to wait until the end of the month to see which one. But my main message by posting this information here in advance is that we can break Tijny's times if we really want to and put some dedication into the job. If I can do it, many of you can do it as well. Just try hard, really hard.

Not that hard, not if it's spinner. Slider could be a bit hard, and easyslider too. Spinner is easy: 6xx is easy to do and maybe with a lucky lap u got a low 6xx.

But then, would that be a "quite nice margin"? Well, it depends on who you ask from.

By trying hard I do not only mean driving a lot of laps. One nice way to improve skills is to record races and then go the fastest laps through to see where you did well and where you have room for improvement. And then go and drive those corners better. It also helps to increase the zoom (I did to 1.2x) to see the details better. But all this is quite time-consuming so I'm not planning to repeat it with other cars. Hope that other guys will though to give Tijny some real challenge.

Ok, actually I ended my DIT attempts because Wednesday I'm going on holiday. I think I did pretty nice this time, and I could win. Lets hope so, and good luck to the challengers.

Nice to hear. I suppose you got a speeder record? I trained it today for a while and found out it's actually not that hard. Didn't break it though.

Nope, speeder record is really fast (not the online one, the real one). But I got a nice overall.
