Record server improvement (vol 2)
Another record server improvement was just made and put into testing. The new feature is track groups. In addition to normal track top lists, there are five track group lists. To get into those lists, you must have a time for each track in the group (with certain car) and upload your records to the record server. HTML lists are updated some time after your upload (normally, in an hour).

The system has not been tested much yet so if you notice problems, please tell it here. Note that some players may be listed twice in some tracks if the players have created their player account in different machines or directories. That is why it would be recommended to copy data/players.dat if installing the game to another machine/directory.

What is your nick? Your name should be added to group lists if you have a non-collision time in each track in a group with certain car and the total time is good enough to fit in top 100.Dr. Laborious wrote:I've tried a couple of times now, but my times don't seem to get updated after I upload them. I know you have to wait a while before it's on the website, but it seems that I can wait untill my hair turns grey, it just doesn't want my times![]()
But there can of course be bugs. I am just now investigating one weird issue Mike Nike pointed out

I just fixed one bug that could explain all those problems you had. So now it *hopefully* really works
.
It still takes some time before the stats are regenerated, you can check the timestamp in the main page to see when it has been remade. To speed up the operation, you can log in and wait until the server restarts - that is when the update is done

Here are the groups. Hopefully, I will have time to add the information to the server, tooPain~less wrote:Looks nice. Where can i see which tracks belong to the certain groups ?

Excellent stuff Ande!!
Now we need some race stat thing. Basically something that concentrates on race points rather than race time as the TS world has gone bloody LAP TIME mad!!!
Not sure how you could do this but really somehow you need to score more points if there are 16 cars in a race compared to 2 or none.

There seems to be something wrong with the record server
I can't upload my records and http://ts1.umoco.com/records/ returns a blank page

For some reason, it seems that the server is temporarily out of disk space. This will hopefully get fixed soon...Tijny wrote:*bump*

Basically, in my point of view, this could be started with registered user nicks and individual driver profiles. Of course, I know this is difficult to accomplish, but if I'd be in the shoes of creator, producer, publisher whatever, I would concentrate to develope "community feel" to the game, making 'the hook' stronger, more content, more reason to stay online, more reasons to register and most importanly long-time sustainability and higher interest. This would enable some kind of possibility to have a "career" as you would see your development, history, "accomplishment", disables, wons/losses against other drivers (when, where, how much), best tracks, recent cups, all cups, average lap times....the possibilities are endless! I personally made last year a rough online framework which shows you the idea: http://www.geocities.com/tsranking/test3.htm.
