New translations needed (for 1.0.4 and later)

Post by Ande » Tue Mar 08, 2005 7:18 pm

Versions 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 will require new phrases to be translated
for existing languages. If the people who have made the existing
translations want to continue to translate these new additions,
we would be very thankful. If you don't have time for that, we
of course understand this - you really don't have to do anything :).
But in this case, it would be nice if you could mention it here
so that we could try to find new people. The number of new phrases
is little over one hundred and they can be found in this file:
http://ts1.umoco.com/antti/langnew.txt

If you have time to do the translation, you can put a link in this
thread or send them to Antti.Mannisto@iki.fi.

The main new features in 1.0.4 will be the possibility to record
races and use joystick. What will be in 1.0.5 is not certain
yet but some some kind of AI player support is possible. It may
also be that Punaball and other mods get better support in the
future. I have tried to guess what kind of phrases *might* be needed
so not every one of them will actually get used.

It depends on many things - including whether or not we get the new translations :). Perhaps an educated guess for version 1.0.4 release date would be "in April" and for 1.0.5, "in summer".

The idea was to first give the makers of the original translations a chance to update their previous work but if that won't happen, we can consider this possibility with Jollygood later :).

I worked together with angryYangel on that. But neither he nor i took so far the time to complete it.
The most is actually completed and i can send you the file(s). But i actually waited, that someone without the fullversion would do that work, to get a license free, maybe

Well I have finished this translation, but I don´t know how to check if the spanish characters (such as ñ, í,ó,¿) will be displayed correctly. On 1.0 they all worked, if you find an error please let me know.

It would seem to work (not that I would understand any Spanish :)), thank you!

The current situation is that all other existing languages but Dutch have been upgraded. So would there be any Dutch players willing to make the upgrade or can anyone contact Tijny to ask if he would like to continue his previous work?

Okay, I'll contact him right away :P

...

I have translated the 1.0.4 lines but the 1.0.5-> lines aren't finished yet. I will send the 1.0.4 lines right away, 1.0.5 will appear as soon as it's finished.

It's nice that you could "find" him so fast :).

1.0.4 lines are what's really needed at this point but also making 1.0.5 stuff now would of course make it easier to make the next version.

Post by joevicentini » Sun Apr 10, 2005 3:41 am

Hello.

Here i am again. I think it has passed almost 6 months since the last time i've posted here. Well, I had a hard time at college last semester, but this doesnt mean im dead :D.

I am the original translator of the brazillian portuguese version, and i would be glad to continue my work, if it's not too late for that. Just drop me a line to let me know.

Ande, you know you can email me if you need anything else. 8)

Actually, we already got a Brasilian update translation. If you want, you can check that it looks ok. There are now two contributor lines, one being the old one and then a new line that says by whom it was upgraded.
